The lack of team defense or the willingness to play any defense can not be stopped by any goalie. You will only destroy a goalies confidence. This team defensively is embarrassing and putrid.
Love my Pens but PLEASE drop the season finale so we can hopefully move below Philly and Buffalo in the standings
I’m sorry but 2.81 GAA and .904 SV% are not good, those are average to below average. I’ll give it to him that he’s playing behind this d core that could not care less if they’re a dash 3 on the night but cmon. Those stats are not good and should not be celebrated as such.
When your best D-men are Shea and Grzlyk you have BIG problems
In the first period after Karlsson joined the team Letang actually played very good (defensively). And then his level of play took a hit when he got injured if I remember correctly. We've already seen a couple of nice rebound projects. Would be nice if he turns out to be the next one.
How many times has Jarry disappointed everyone? Most all the time right?I wouldn’t be too happy with his resurgence! Disappointment year after year!
The guys didn't let me down . karlason sucks..Jarry sucks .hope they lose against Washington..they know they aren't going anywhere..so why anyone care how it turns out, so they can play their golf outing
Love your takes DK…goalies mature sometimes as they get older…I still don't trust Jarry to be a cup contending goalie……but we will watch the stock, ,and hopefully sell it before it drops…..
I do think Letang would play better once Karlsson is gone….it is hard to have two alpha's….Burns was average with Karlsson, when he left San Jose, his play elevated….like it was before Karlsson came to San Jose….I'm not putting blame on Karlsson, just saying two similar style players (Letang more physical and Karlsson maybe a little more finesse with the puck)…hard for both being on the same team……again an opportunity to point to Dubas and his poor ability to construct a roster to win not recognizing the intangibles that contribute to a team and a teams performance.
I just think Dubas is just so below average to manage and construct a team….I'm not sure how someone can look at his career, the 5 years in Toronto and then the 2 years in Pittsburgh, look at the decisions he has made in giving contracts out, free agent signings, trades, and think this guy is going to be able to build a winning team that contends for the Stanley cup….its so hard to see when you look Birds Eye at his moves and decisions.
I love Letang as much as any pens fan but something is not right he’s not skating right (yes I am accounting for Father Time) and he seems like he can’t adapt anywhere personally I think there’s something he’s working through weather it be a new injury or the off season surgeries didn’t do their job

DK, playing on today's discussion, if you had it your way, who would you keep on defense (if anyone) to build around for the next two or three years and who would you move out?
Graves is so weak and pathetic in his defending. Letang is lethargic at best, however he has given so much to the organization. It may be time to retire soon.
Look, I'll be the first to admit I've been hard on Jarry however, he does look different, more focused and is making stellar saves since returning. Hitting rock bottom is good for everyone. It centers you and makes you more humble. He deserves the credit after being ragged on by so many people. This is a good sign for next season.
On the bare minimum side of things, if Jarry’s performance over this last span of games can gain enough interest by another club to trade for him and his contract or most of it, this would be a win/win for both the player and organization. It’s disappointing that things haven’t gone better with Jarry, but I certainly hope and wish the best for him, (here or with another organization).
I must admit I am a huge Jarry fan – know his family first hand in BC – but I hope he is able to find a home next year on a team that needs him and has a good D in front of him. I think our three goaltenders in the minors need a clear path to move up to the big team.
Letang will always be my favorite player, but my God he needs to call it quits. He's just outclassed in every aspect these days. Defense is terrible as it is but he definitely makes it worse. Boston is just as bad as we are but they still came to play. Tanger can't let it go….the two strokes definitely shortening his career.
Letang doesn't miss a shift….well besides the 4 minutes he sat in the box. He has been awful and uninterested in playing for quite sometime, so why does Sullivan keep pumping him out there. Sully blames the effort, but never the line up that he made and puts out there. Letang is helping other teams win! At this stage if you could get rid of him and keep Karlsson with that big contract, than that would be a win. But I get so frustrated how Sullivan never takes the fall, his decisions are killing this team, leaving Letang out there for twenty minutes a night is killing this team, not getting these guys on defense to start playing the right way or somewhat structured is killing this team, this blind loyalty has to stop…….this is Jeff Carter all over again! No playoff series wins after 2018, three consecutive playoff misses, when is he on the hook. They proved they could play competitive hockey this season, but then get pumped, I think of games against the Islanders, Buffalo, Dallas, Lightning, even Chicago………total embarrassing efforts, and there's many more but these ones scarred me. I have been a fan since the 80's, , this year I have missed about 3 games, that's pretty much my average every year……..if not for Sid I would've quit watching, and next season if Sullivan is still steering the Titanic, Letang is still regarded as the Number one guy, it might be time to drop the Center Ice and watch something else. If management doesn't care and the product is what it is, why should fans waste 3 hours of their time every other night. Hoping for change on this team happens at a glacier pace.
They were playing in slow motion most of the game.. looked like trying to avoid injury and get this over with. Don't blame them honestly.
Jarry is probably on this roster next year, Idk what happens with Letang but everyone else on that defense should be turned over they need a completely new look on that position, Graves probably stays too unless he's bought out but he's unmovable
Time will tell when it comes to Jarry. As of late he has played better. Thank you DK. What's going on with the join button ? am I joining a second time ?
Moving Karlsson doesn't help Letang, it adds more minutes and pressure he can't handle anymore. Letang and Karlsson need steady partners that compliment them especially in the defensive zone. With Pettersson gone we have none of those guys anymore, save maybe for Pickering, if he's ready.
Big fat whatever in terms of Jarry making a difference in games that have no stakes. See: recent unbeatable Buffalo Sabres. I don't like his personality, his tendency to blame shift, and I especially dont like the way the team plays in front of him. I'm not interested in any further investigation of Jarry's development in the Penguins NHL organization.
