Shouldn't even be a penalty. Shit happens, it's a fast sport. Raymond did it to himself. Cernak did nothing wrong. He's just trying to play the puck and/or check the player. I think that talk of a suspension is wild.
I think that if you attempt to dangerously avoid a check and move rapidly to do so, you also take it on yourself to take on the responsibility of where the contact takes place. How can someone coming in at speed be asked to line the hit up for both where you are and are going as well as the various alternative paths you can randomly take if you shift in any direction. There is no way Cernak can be faulted for his opponent quite literally attempting to jump back and around his shoulder.

I disagree with the state of the rules moving away from the whole "vulnerable position" thing.

Cernak was going to miss the hit so he went with the shrug to still get a piece of him… but you cant do that.
