How can Chelsea go back to being a top team if they keep buying kids, at some point you need prime world class 26/27 year olds in your squad (example Oblak) but then will he come if your top earner is getting 180k a week. No world class players are gonna come in on them wages. Oblak gets 360K a week at Madrid so where’s the logic behind it? This tells me that if they have brought the wage bracket significantly lower down what you had before….how are you ever gonna compete and get the world class players joining you? Your not. Another case is say Palmer throws a strop next year and wants 350/400K a week otherwise I’ll go to another club and get it elsewhere? The owners say no then he just constantly gets injured refuses to play and puts in a transfer request, then what happens? Do they hang on to a bad apple that disharmonies the team or sell him for premium?

What's the guarantee that any of these or all will hit the mark and be big players? None, so Chelsea have not done clever business, they have gambled just as any club signing a player on 3-4 year. The only difference is that some of the players signed by other clubs are actually proven at a higher level, whereas Chelsea have signed potential which is not guaranteed.
