Matthews rarely plays a full season, so I savored his 81-game performance last year. We knew this injury stuff would come back around.
Same thing happened with Nick Seeler for the start of the Flyers year, obviously not AS noticeable as matthews being out, but supposedly he blocked a shot in practice and it just took longer to heal than they thought it would. what they thought shouldve been one game was like 5

As a wings fan I’m really wondering what opportunity we’re going to offer Sebastian Cossa and when. He’s been lights out in GR this year and last. It’s really bizarre what we’re doing in net with a guy like him in the pipeline, but that seems like a common sentiment in hockeytown
I think the Sharks will give Askarov a run-out against the Blues on Thursday night. Second night of a back-to-back and on the road (less pressure) against a team that has struggled to find goals this season.
Vasi was good in his shutout vs us (NJD) but their defense was great, too. Guarded "the house" like champs.

I always liked Kapanen, his speed is lethal. I feel like he's fairly one dimensional though, and he would need a really particular system on a team to thrive, and he might not get that chance.
Levi needed to go to Rochester, he needs to get some playing time. FYI Greenway is week to week.

Chicago management are smothering the life out of their generational talent by giving him nobody to play with. People were applauding the Black Hawks for stripping the team down to the studs, but they need to start giving Bedard linemates who know which end of the stick to hold, instead of chasing the 1st overall pick in the next entry draft as their goal. If you look at the roster in Pittsburgh from Year 1 of Sidney Crosby, they continually surrounded him with and added skilled veterans every season for those first few years, not flushing them down the drain every trade deadline.
Thanks for the video! I doubt a Blackhawks head coach change would make a difference for this season. I wouldn't want to saddle a new head coach with what has been built for this season. I would wait until February or even let Richardson know he was on the way out and allow him to find something and leave on his own terms sooner if he cares to do so. I don't think they gave him a good opportunity and he's been a saint absorbing the rebuild but I also don't think he's done much with what little he has had, so I think his future lies elsewhere. He's just 55 and has plenty of head coaching in his future.
Also, there's plenty enough blame to go around, if blame is the right word, but I'm more inclined to accept what has come before, call it the past, and move on with a new head coach who could be brought on toward the end of the season when it's beyond any doubt there are no playoff hopes. The players we have will do well enough for this year protecting Bedard (Maroon and Murphy) and I don't think it is a bad thing for Bedard to need to play in these adverse conditions. It'll make him a more creative player going forward.
The Rockford Icehogs are a lazy afternoon's drive from the United Center and the BH front office and coaching staff should use this season to season some of the youngsters in the farm system. Derek King is your continuity, and came up from the Icehogs as their coach, and if Luke Richardson finds a new position before we find his replacement, King can interim coach again as he did before Richardson was brought on board. I don't know that King is head coach material, maybe he should be considered, but he's definitely proven his worth as an interim and assistant (and he should get a pay raise, as well).
Chicago needs to absolutely hire Woodcroft and run the season out
