The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Florida Panthers in a shootout on April 12, 2025. With less than 16 seconds left in the first, Ramus Dahlin scored on the power play off a pass from Jason Zucker. Florida got one back early in the second, and notched another with 5:13 remaining to take the lead. Just as time was expiring on a power play in the third, JJ Peterka scored another for Buffalo to tie the game. The game then went into a scoreless overtime and headed to a shootout. Anton Lundell scored in the first round for the Panthers and was met with no response. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 34 saves in the matchup.
