Damn! Losing Ekholm puts a massive dent in the Oilers' chances to go on another deep run.
it would be wise for oilers fans to lower their expectations for this year. entire team is banged up and old and slow, with shaky goaltending. i strongly believe that with a good offseason here, and lots of rest for key pieces we can have a great bounceback season next year.
They better get that newly signed goalie into Edmonton quick!

Ekholm isn't young. I think he's 35. Lot of wear and tear on his body. Overall, team needs to get younger and faster. Drew Doughty was out for LA during last year's playoffs. Now it's our turn. Still, the games are played on the ice. Everyone has to step up and collectively fill the void left by Ekholm's absence. Thankfully, Evander Kane will be returning. Add Zach Hyman to that list. Hopefully, Trent Frederic too. Defense is the issue. Oilers always seem to have problems there. Must address it during the off-season. Losing Philp Broberg hurts all the more now.
It’s really not good to lose Ekholm for any length of time. Defense dept isn’t anywhere Elmer as good as the forward debt.
Ekholm might have a diminished role the next year or 2 for Olers but I will gladly take him for 2nd or 3 pone pariing.
I think Kulak can step up and take some more responsibility on the 1st line. Hes had a really good year.
If they are calling up dineen the Klingberg must be in bad health or not in good Grace's with coaches.
Without ekholm we still have 6. Dineen would be 7. Which means Klingberg must be out.
Dineen has passed Brown and Detmer it looks like.
Just dont put our goalie coach anywhere near the goalie prospects. He is poison.

Ekholm is old and beat up! Should kept Broberg Js he’s 10 years younger and being a younger body he can recover fro injury quicker
