A single play off vet, on the D line, isn't going to get everyone else (the rest of the D) up to speed, in terms of how different the playoffs will be. When your team has this many guys who are excited to finally be at the dance you gotta go with that and let your vets get hungry again for something they've already tasted instead of being the ones who explain how this is done. The team's identity is steeped in how flippin ready they are for this chance — this is new; this is different. Not a lot of guys will have the opportunity to play with such a big core of young talented skaters and rewrite history, so to speak. Look at the Leafs where they have so much history with early exits that for them, that playoff experience can be a determent. Battling your own mistakes, your own failures. You have to know that these experienced guys have to judge how much of their playoff experience they want to impart on this team and also, it's just an entirely different scenario, so not all of it is applicable.
The team that made it here, that's been through some shit, is that team that qualified then clinched and is now ready to upset.
