The Winnipeg Jets have all but clinched the Western Conference, as well as their own division. They continue to impress, are still 1st in the NHL, and seem to be peaking at the right time. Can they do it come playoff time?

How we feeling Jets fans???
I feel like we need to get the point to clinch the central next game so that we can rest helley for the last two games and get him ready for the playoffs
Vilardi is my favourite player. Want to know why? I won the golden puck and I asked for his broken stick if he still had it, he couldnāt find it so he gave me his full stick. Heās such a nice person.
Been a fan of this team since they came back and this by far the best jets team we have ever had I believe I was prepared for the monumental collapse we were gonna have the trade deadline or even the 4 nations tournament but they haven't missed a beat at all this season let's hope they keep it up
Old JETS teams always f found a way to lose those key games. Not this team! GO JETS GO!
I think the pp has gone down because weve just not gotten many chance. But the few games where we had 3 or 4 and we dont score isnt good. But heads held high.
Very proud of this organization and the players, it has been a year without equal and I've been in the barn for some great games. Not looking at you Utah! We here in the Peg know what we are watching, potential Cup winning hockey, the Jets don't lose when it matters! Next week, all the games matter š
gotta say.
this year? The Jets flipped the playoff switch in October, and havenāt stopped since.
nobody has had an answer.
Nobody can catch them.
head to head record in āstandings altering gamesā is INSANE.
In āBig gamesā? They have beat every other contender except LA, (not worried about losing on a mid winter California road trip with zero impact on the standings oddā¦)
they had one of the craziest schedules in modern hockey history.. didnāt skip
a beat.
injuries? schedule nonsense? depth just keeps pushing them through it.
GO JETS GO!!!!!
Jets are going to clinch the west/central if any of the remaining Jets/Dallas games go to OT (regardless of the outcome), if the Jets win a single game, or if the Stars lose a single game.
I'd say now is a great time to play Comrie on Saturday against the Hawks, play Helle on the Sunday against the Oilers, and give the last game next week Wednesday against the Ducks to Comrie again. I would argue to not even dress Helle, and call up one of the Moose G's to sit as backup…whichever one the team is going to travel with the team as a black-ace through the playoffs.
That would give Connor a good 4-5 day rest before game 1 of the playoffs, just incase if he has any bangs or muscle soreness that could use the time to recover.
The Jets will win the Stanley Cup this year. Will there be drama? For sure but it will be a fun ride. Stanley is coming back to Canada. First round Jets vs Blues (Jets in 5 games), Second round Jets vs Avs (Jets in 6 games), WCF Jets vs LA (Jets in 7 games), SCF Jets vs TB (Jets in 7 games)
Vegas 4 – 0
St. Lou 3 – 1
Dallas 4 – 0
(with a disappointing loss in Utah 4 – 1)
Puttin the loss in Utah aside, actually both losses in Utah were wake-up calls, this team proved that it is in fact without a doubt the best in the West. I hate to bring up last season BUT they did spank Colorado in Colorado towards the end of last season and we all remember how the playoffs ended.
This is the year. They beat the best in the East twice and they are the best in the West. No more small market mentality. No more there's always next year. No more we should be happy to have a team in the Peg. This is the year.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't among the group of people at 2pm on trade deadline day that was "disappointed/angry/upset/a little bummed/etc etc" that Chevy didnt do more to strengthen this team… Especially looking at what Colorado and Dallas had done… Especially given the fact we told Bucky specifically we were trying for cups NOW… And I do agree with the idea generally that "trying for cups now" means you need to be willing to deal high picks/prospects to strengthen the team…
(I also believe we did try to add another Minnesota boy in Brock Boeser, but we smartly refused to overpay for him, and as a result, we were one of the teams that VAN's GM claimed "made insulting offers to acquire Brock." – And funnily enough, It's being reported he's going to walk to UFA status now… almost certainly in part because of VAN's GM statement about the guy and this situation…)
…Anyway… By 3pm, I had basically moved on, because I genuinely try to see both sides of things, and tried to look at the benefits of NOT making bigger changes/additions…
And I arrived at a few different reasons to maybe actually LOVE the type of moves we made…(or didnt make…) Adding a couple high energy, dependable, reliable vets in Tanev & Schenn…
…Not losing a first round pick, or a guy like Perfetti, in order to add what would likely amount to a rental player…(Assuming somebody "worth it" was even willing to waive their trade protections to come here in the first place, nvm actually legitimately try and negotiate to stay here honestly & fairly…)
I do go back and remember just how much it seemed like Monahan and Toffoli actually impacted that Avalanche series for us… And in reality… They both hurt us pretty badly over the course of that series…
I think about how this year there has been SOOOO little practice time… So this year in particular, it would be pretty important imo to make sure that the player you're aquiring is actually capable of playing in the structure and schemes that your coaching staff uses…
And then… Ya… It's all about the chemistry… Some Jets fans want us to basically act like Vegas did to win their cup… They want us to be the exact opposite of a "family team" – and be a "pure business only team" – (While at the same time being the type of fan who made the biggest deal possible out of the locker room cancer drama that surrounded this team for WAY too long.)
I'm always amazed at how prevalent this position seems to be among a good chunk of online Jets fans… They HATE the loyalty we show people like Paul Maurice, and can't stand how long he had a job here as HC… They would constantly call him one of, if not THE worst coach of all time, because he has the most L's all time… Ignoring where he is on the all time wins list, and ignoring his win/point percentage at the exact same time to make that garbage nonsense point…)
They would HATE when we bring back people like Tanev or Appleton from Seattle… But imo, these are the types of things that separate the organization from other markets, and allows people to actually have a reason to resign here… And this loyalty in particular is almost CERTAINLY one of those things that made it possible for us to sign both Scheifele and Bucky to matching contract extensions and some of the most team friendly AAV's in the league, ESPECIALLY considering the market, and what it will look like starting in a couple months…
This team makes it SO easy to like them now… And some fans want us to be the leagues villian, on top of how much half the league only seems to see negatives when they think of this cold dark small market city šš¤¦
Iām fairly certain the Jets have the Central technically clinched as is. Dallas and Winnipeg each with 3 games left would close the 6 point gap in a worst case scenario but the first applicable tiebreaker being total regulation wins would go to the jets because they have 54 and the best Dallas could do is 53. Please correct me if Iām wrong on this tho.
Saw the game last night in person it was amazing! Hopefully we can continue this momentum into the playoffs
who cares, they need to be relocated since Winnipeg is as about as much an NHL market as Des Moines is
