A 3rd rounder for a decent defender isn't a bad deal, even for a rental. He's a guy that's not going to stand out, but he'll make the team better overall
Loved Demelo. He was one of Ottawa's best defensemen. Played a lot of top pairing minutes with Chabot last year. Doesn't make too many mistakes and is a legitimate 3rd pairing defenseman on a decent NHL team. We should have signed him to an extension like 4 years at $2M per or something like that.
Him and Borowiecki could have been a stable third pairing for us and even filled in second pairing roles while Brannstrom, JBD and Thomson develop. Instead, I fear the Sens are going to rely on non-NHL calibre defensemen like Englund and Goloubef (though I would like to see Jaros and Wolanin get more time with the big club).
This return is also bad and that tends to be par for the course for Dorion. Makes me worry what he will do with Pageau.
Plus, I will miss Demelo's videos on the Sens' social media channels. The guy is absolutely hilarious.

What's weird is that Winnipeg is in Ottawa on Thursday, so DeMelo should stay in Ottawa for the time being. As for the trade, it's alright, I thought Ottawa would also get a player or a prospect but whatever.

Oh my god that is a terrible return for DeMelo… Sens have a shallow defensive prospect pool as of right now and DeMelo is still young… Not happy they should have resigned him if all they were getting was a third. What was he asking for I wonder?

As a jets fan I feel like this is another forgettable defensemen added to the team. But hey, hopefully he proves me wrong and stands out. And hopefully he sticks around for a few years unlike the other rentals we’ve got in years prior. I’m looking forward to seeing him play, kinda excited actually

I would have hoped for a 2nd but a third is ok. A 3rd could very well turn into a really good player ( DeMelo himself was a 6th round pick).
Ottawa fans hold more of a intrinsic value to DeMelo, myself included. I was upset to see that he went for a 3rd Round Pick… but not as mad that he is going to my second favourite NHL team in the Winnipeg Jets. I was hoping for at least a 2nd Round Pick because of Andy Greene trade but realistically you cannot compare that with the two players even with the age argument. I hope this isn't going to hurt the Sens in the long run as there are some pretty good right side D coming through the pipes.

I think we got Dorioned 🤦♂️ we should’ve gotten @ least a 2nd fo demelo. He’s been one of our best d men this year and last. He’s a + player on Ottawa nuff said. Let alone his contract was under a mil so I thought that would get him a 2nd. Oh well wish Double D luck in the peg u guys will love him.

Haven't seen him play much as I dont watch Ottawa too much, but I am happy we got something for almost nothing, whether he works out or not we didn't really lose anything so it's a win for us, and if he works out as Chevy said he's been watching demelo since he was traded from sj then I will one happy guy, right now we need some stability on the blue like and I'm hoping this will work out in our favor, sometimes all someone needs is a good team and arena to play in to take off, I'm not expecting a lot of points from him but I'm hoping he can bring some stability to our own end
