Should the Detroit Red Wings fire Steve Yzerman? #nhl #detroitredwings #hockey

  1. The strategy isn’t terrible. He’s building through the draft and to this point has been hitting on all of his 1st round picks, something Holland failed to do between 2015 and 2018. Building through the draft, in the NHL, takes much longer. Cossa and Augustine are looking like top tier goalie prospects as well. People inside the hockey world, not surface level people who get all their info from MLive, will tell you the rebuild is right on track.

  2. If he’s name wasn’t Yzerman he’d be gone. Fans want tangible progress, sure he brought us up from the dark ages. But that was a low bar to pass. Now it’s the hard part, it’s easy to make your team better when you’re picking 1-5 or 6-10. Now we get to see what happens when you’re in that limbo of picking 15-20 every year… other GMs wish they had Yzermans job security, because as long as he keeps mumbling about the future and the draft, he won’t be fired.
His drafting has been fine, nothing super stellar, but he found some guys. His FAs tho have been garbage: trade away Walman AND a 2nd rounder for nothing, so he then gets flipped for a 1st? That type of shit is inexcusable. To me the lightning were good DESPITE Yzerman, not because of him. He should go, but he won’t because of the fanbases blind love for their “captain”.

  3. Goalie is in grand rapids right now his name is cossa right now. Seen a flash of him this year the young guys he has drafted are looking good. His guys are looking like the future. It's not the best right now but you can see it's coming real soon.

  4. Yes, Steve Yzerman should be fired. The roster is trash. Even the guys that fans like myself thought were going to be great just aren't.

I thought they had 5 or 6 guys that potentially could develop into stars now I believe those guys are closer to Dylan Larkin which is 2nd line talent.

Having said all that he's not going anywhere because there's a cult that has 50 excuses on why Detroit keeps regressing.

They're now running around saying rebuilds take 10 years. It's unbelievable how dedicated these fans are to him.

I live in Tampa and they no longer view Yzerman like they did when he left. Down here he's now known as a scared GM that was never willing to make moves that matter.

    Sound familiar?
