I've been riding for 13 years through all weather. Never owned a car. I currently own a TU250X and I love it to bits. Not just for learners, it's a great bike by itself.
I've been on mine for 4 years… year round. 25,000 miles so far. It's been fairly trouble free. The jerk damper seems to wear out quickly. And I think (not sure) I have an issue with vapor lock. But no other issues that weren't my fault. I'm going to get something bigger (KLR), but only because I'm too fat for the TU.
Pretty excited about that drum brake for $5k, eh? 😉 No way is this worth the new asking price. Find a second-hand one for half price from someone who has upgraded.

I might consider one in the future. but I may have to switch out the front sprocket. I heard it improves the bike overall.
