In a bell jar, this is absolutely a cross-check. But in the NHL, this is an extremely soft call. I agree with you that it should be the standard and not the exception, but it's quite frustrating when something that we've been taught by NHL referees is the exception gets called one time out of however many identical non-calls.
I have no issue with this being called, but the fact that 9 times out 10 they don't call it, I also don't blame the coach for being upset about it, so I don't know if that part of the video was really necessary
