LeBrun talks timing of Demidov deal, Canada’s possible first six picks for Olympic team

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joins SC with Jay Onrait to take a closer look at the timing of Ivan Demidov joining the Canadiens on an entry-level deal, discusses if the NHL and NHLPA will agree on playoff cap compliance, and how different he expects Canada’s first six picks to be for the Olympics compared to the 4 Nations Face-Off.

  1. burning 1 year of ELC is worth it as now they will get him over here and not have 2 worry about what games the KHL will play..now we will see how good he is.

  2. I feel like Montreals top 2 lines are solidified now. If they clinch a playoff spot I think they'll be dangerous.

  3. Guys someone over there in your fung shoe eh! Department,
Has a very funny sense of humor,…cause someone at
HQ was like,…"were going for a,.."Covid is still out there
    kinda vibe"…
    and I'm just chime'n in
    To say…
    (Can You believe it!?)

    Sincerely,
Ripley's Believe (He's just sit'n there without a mask) or Not!

  4. I mean,don't you think the one that's not on a TV
Should maybe just for a laugh,…be wearing a pair of
Hockey Skates?…(and then when you get a close up of him
You realize that he doesn't even know how to ice skate!)
This is what it's all about!

  5. Nick Suzuki absolutely belongs on Team Canada Olympic team for 2026. He has the most points in the league since the 4 Nations break and sits T 86 points now with a few games left to play. Nick is also excellent defenasively in it's own zone. Team Canada dodged a bullet by not having either Nick Suzuki or Mark Scheifele on the 4 Nations roster.

  6. Hockey players want to play. Saying that mgmt tells their players to sit out significant amounts of time so they can circumvent the cap is ludicrous. The player would want to play. (Kucherov actually had surgery. Stone played in pain.)

Kane, Stone, Kucherov are big time winners. No way they wanted to sit at home and not play. Could they have played just before the playoffs? Probably a bit, but, big deal.

Also, if a team can still compete without their star player, more kudos to them. Not many teams could compete if they sit out their best player. Nobody talks about this. Some teams fall apart when and miss playoffs when a key player is injured.

    Let them circumvent!

  7. If the Habs bow out quick they might regret burning a year they get 2 home games for sure but the rink would have been packed anyhow so idk. When comes to the games integrity the managers should NOT have a say the NHL should have reps that are smart enough to make the right decisions and get this Salary Cap JOKE in order.

  8. The solution to the LTIR scam is if a player doesn't play the last regular season game or at least be brought back on the roster for the last game they are not eligible for the playoffs. This will stop the cap cheating.

  9. What’s amazing is the potential of an Ovechkin and Demidov 1st round matchup. The NHL will have a field day with this !!

  10. Pick up Tavares next year and you have Demidov and Laine on the wings and you’ll have a crazy 2nd line!

  11. Demidov was 5th in 2024 because most teams didn't think /believe that he would be "liberated" by the St. Petersburg SKA, being its strongest player (in the strongest team of the Russian league, above Moscow's Dynamo), especially during a special political context, and they didn't want to lose their drafting opportunity. A great "coup" for Montréal..
