  1. Outstanding! By the logic of some of those replies, if the wings were good and made the playoffs, it would have been because of Ken Holland right? Do you think they would be giving him credit if that happened? šŸ˜‚ NOT!

  2. I mean both things can be true, if he was not Stevie he'd be fired yes. This team also is much better than when he got them also true, the down years were THAT BAD. His pro scouting side as a GM has been at best questionable with assest management (shiping out Walman with a 2nd or 3rd pick I forget which), and who is the best FA hes gotten long term? Now I will say his amateur scouting is pretty good and we are now starting to see the return on that thankfully with Edvinsson, Seider, Raymond, Kasper, and Johansson looking pretty good in their rookie years IMO. Then you got Mazur, Danielsson, maybe ASP looking at maybe guys next year that take that next step up potentially. Cossa gets starts I imagine next year with Talbot and Mrazek being guys you start the year with. Now if he really wants to swing for the fences this offseason on a Marner type this offseason the money is there in the capspace I believe but yeah little evidence of that in the past obviously. I think he has to launch Holl and Tarasenko out of a cannon this offseason with buyouts atleast Senko and make Holl ride pine as a 6th or AHL guy as well absolute disaster contracts (thankfully not long term though).

  3. So many dumbasses, it’s unreal they cannot separate Yzerman the fantastic hockey player from Yzerman the questionable GM.

As good as the draft picks are, the fact of the matter is that in the seven years of his draft a whopping FOUR players have made the jump since then, other teams are playing they’re young guys and seeing promising results.

The Wings organization over ripens the prospects and then the Yzergoofs thump their chest about how deep it is in comparison to the rest of the league willfully ignoring those other teams young players have already graduated and are contributing to the team already or are just AHL fodder, they’re playing this game where ā€œthe futureā€ is something completely undefined and thus can be manipulated to suit their needs, if the year 2035 came up and the Wings finally made it, they can thump their chest and mock the doomers for doubting, meanwhile others have lost interest and invested in the actual winning teams in Detroit.

I can say I’m genuinely terrified of this offseason because if it’s like the others we’ll be signing more older bums who aren’t good for shit and still won’t play the young talent that is hyped to no end while we still wait to see if they’re actually any good.

Either shit or get off the point Steve.

  4. Apparently, shifting from the west to the east has not worked out. The thought of firing Stevie Y. is unfathomable to me. He’s too big in this town, to fire him, (at this point).
I’m under the impression ownership is cheap, (letting go of Walman)?

  5. Steve’s whole plan is ā€œlets just suck until the kids are readyā€ and it’s not good enough. He’s basically Al Avila at this point, drafted some good players but also signed some horrific contracts.

  6. Could you describe the drops in the comments or something with time stamps haha? Is that legal?

  7. The team is soft. They do not have a number one goalie and maybe 5 players that could make a different squad. Bring up the youth and take your lumps. Cossa needs to be in net. They need a coach that will add some fortitude to this team.

  8. Yzerman was handcuffed this past offseason with the signings of Raymond and Seider, which also caused him to have to let go of several key players that otherwise probably would have been retained, like Perron and Ghost. I think the team took about 2 steps forward last season and one step backward this season but I also think that's the hockey world in general in the cap age. I think overall the fanbase is understandably impatient right now and yes being who Yzerman is and was as a Detroit sports legend, we should give him a little more leeway. With that being said, id say that we should all suck this up and give him one more season, and if the playoffs are a bust again then it's sayonara Stevie.

  9. Mike the ā€œYou Don’t Know Hockeyā€ is the favorite argument of ā€œI can’t argue your point, so I’ll just pretend your too stupid to argue withā€ tactic. These idiots know full well this isn’t going good and if they don’t try to sell you on ā€œthe futureā€ then they have absolutely nothing to lean on.

They can’t point to the current roster and claim success since the roster as it is can’t get out of the way of bad eastern conference with four good young players, a beaten up captain, a streaky shooter, and a past his prime HoF. Anyone else Yzerman has brought on has been mid to ass and the one or two good FA signing in Ghost and Walman he let walk and in Walman case gave away for nothing only to bring in Justin Holl and Gustafson.

This rebuild has been a complete disaster thus far and unfortunately no one who’s how good the prospects will be, they could very well suck, it’s a mystery box.

  10. Should have traded Larkin for prospects, kept Walman and Ghost and let the full-scale rebuild going.
