It wasn't a hit, …it was a collision, and one that McDavid would rather forget, although it served as a reminder that there are freight trains in the NHL that will run you over without even knowing you are there.

I thought you had to touch the puck in order to be hit or it is an interference penalty. He never touched the puck.

Every defenseman should, if given the chance, try and lay a (legal) hit on the skilled puck movers and skaters. Letting them assume they won’t be hit just allows for even more plays. No free passes, good for him.
