Why do harp so much on advanced stats? You could have simply said UPL leads all goalies in the NHL in total goals against but instead went into stats no one really cares about or even understands…

Here's the thing. The Sabres for the past 3 seasons with the same core players the same soft team shows up late in the season with nothing left to play for no pressure. So now these few wins that mean nothing will give Kevyn a reason to say to the fans (again) "hey we played well the last 10 games I don't need to make changes in the summer". Or Adams will make more fringe 3rd line and 4th line changes. Yes the defense is sus but worse is your use of goaltenders and even worse was a failure to get a real number one goalie to play in front of UPL and force him to EARN that number one role instead Ruff coddled UPL and just handed the number one spot to him and even when Levi had similar stats

i swear every time UPL has a sizeable break he gets substantially worse.
the only difference is this year he goes from bad to unusable whereas last year he went good to bad.

Hear me out. Why not turn Greenway into a dman. It would add size and grit back there. Refer to #33 Dustin Byfuglien. Buffalo needs grit on the dline.
Also trade Peterka and Byram for Perfetti and Hayden Fluery.
Benson and perfreti would be a mence. Flurry is a young strong skilled dman. Jj would add speed and skill to the jets and Byram use him to trade for something else

Quinn finally has some confidence. Playing with JJ has helped. They play well together. And JJ is finally smiling. Quinn needs to keep shooting like McLeod & Krebs.
Do not blame the D when UPL is so far out of position on a majority of the goals allowed, it's depressing… it's depressing that anyone could see how bad he was positioning at the beginning of the season and he WASN'T coached up to find it…. Last year, when he was positionally sound, he was an above average goalie.
Quinn is a typical Buffalo Sabre. As soon as the pressure of the playoff race is annually erased from their reality, most of the players relax and play better, excited to see their early golfing day coming up.
Inconsistent goaltending, plus weak defense in front of the net, is the culprit this year. If Levi isn't ready next year wtf are they going to do?
It isn't a 6 point difference, it is a 12 point difference. If he wins 3 more games, it is 3 less losses also. Would put them in the wildcard race.
The way that Reimer is playing, my suggestion is to Resign him for another year and package UPL for a Top 6 forward.
Even when UPL is playing his best, we’re always wondering how long it will be before the floor drops out.
Plus, if we can’t sign a LEGIT #1 Goalie in Free Agency, we bring up Levi. He’s spent the last year and a half in Rochester being pretty dominant, so he could be ready to take over the Net.

Time to trade UPL. If Lindy had played Reimer more I feel the sabres would not be where they are now. Although I don't think they would be in a playoff spot either. As for Jack Quinn, I don't understand why Lindy did not team him up with JJ up until now. The 2 of them feed off one another.

Owen power is ridiculously soft on D and I’ve seen him hang UPL out to dry consistently this season.

I would try my best to trade for Antin Lundell. A package with Quinn, 1st round pick.and another prospect if needed. Florida hasn't many prospects or barely any draft capital remaining…they may want to reload
Sabres should definitely see what they can get, for example, power . If they can get 2 solid defensive dman that can move the puck and improve the teams defensive play or a solid NHL ready goalie paired with a solid dman…that would be saweet
UPL is fine, he played amazing when the season mattered. Now he's helping draft position and not blowing out groins in throw-away games.
I would have Power in the gym every day in the off season, so soft it's sickening, Samuelson no better, Quinn has to stay out of the bars, BS his alarm didn't go off, yea ok.
Lets just say this Kevin Adams is by far the worst GM in hockey, he has done nothing, not one thing. He is an embarrassment with his long term signings, what a joke
I doubt upl will play much this season. Not a good gamble and Reimer has been very good overall.

I'm going to switch things up a bit here. Quinn has played better since paired with Peterka. Cozens was a plus/minus nightmare and wasn't generating anything at all. I am one of the rare ones who actually like Power. He is highly skilled offensively, slick skating and has a high hockey IQ. Sure he's not hammering players into the boards, but he's mostly in position in the defensive zone and he leads the team in blocks. Overall the team has played better as of late which is either the combination of one or two things. Reimer in net has looked Hella better than UPL, and Cozens out of the mix has brought some life to Quinn, Krebs.
UPL plays decent for half a season and all the brain dead morons want to give him a huge contract for way too much money. This is exactly why this team sucks. Nobody has a clue.
