If peterka wanted out why the hell didn't Adams trade him and get something for him.
If JJ was really demanding he wants out, they would have traded him at the deadline, and he also wouldnt be trying to come back and practice this season. He would drag the injury out and say screw you guys.

I can’t blame anyone for wanting out of that joke of a team. They won’t start winning until they get a real GM. Haven’t had one since 1997 when John Muckler left.
I read that his agent is putting out the rumors about JJ in order to increase interest in him. If the Sabres are having trouble signing him though, he will be offer sheeted.
Peterka doesn’t score enough to make up for all the holes in his game. He’s a typical Adams player, some offensive skill not much of anything else. He’s wants out, the Sabres should oblige. He’s not worth the headache.

I think if JJ wants to play hardball we should. I think its time for the league as a whole to crack down on these young players that have no power telling teams they want to be traded. Now I get the Young player that is not getting a shot at the NHL. But players who are and are very early in their careers no you do not have leverage. And we also do not want half the league where players will not go and play.
If I was KA I would make it known that anything under the 9.16 Million point I will just match. I might consider 2 first around picks, a 2nd and a 3rd. I will walk away for sure on 4 first round picks. So if someone offers JJ over the $11.45 Million then he can go elsewhere.
I would also set the price for JJ for any trade and a team needs to step up to the bar. If NYR come calling is Schneider and a 1st or no deal. If NYR are offering a Lafreniere for JJ swap. Ok I am good with that. Lafreniere has a high of 57 point season and is having ups and downs. JJ has 2 50 point seasons and might break 60 this year. While Lafreniere was a higher pick he is not living up to the 1st overall. JJ is doing more right now. So it still will be a fair trade.
Are the Canes offering Svechnikov? Are the Sense offering Drake Batherson? If the trade offers are not on this level you hang up the phone. JJ has no leverage here and you make it a point. If he wants to go back to Europe to sit out. Fine let him and make it known when he is ready to come back you will talk to him. But you are not trading him unless you get what you want period. Because if he sits over in Europe too long he is going to lose far more money than he will realize because if he wants to sit out years. No one is going to give him the money he wants.
Eichel wanted out the year before the neck surgery crap. He was supposed to help us out of this and he turned his back on us. He let a lot of people down.

I personally don't expect JJ to get offer sheeted… first.. this only works when the team that holds the rights is low on cap space… That's not going to be the sabres next year… and I expect he'll get an offer with a high pick coming back that another team either can't or won't part with. JJ's options are limited and even signing an offersheet, he runs a risk of matching and now he's locked in where he don't want to be.

The fact is Buffalo is an absolute mess. Pegula has no idea what he is doing. The front office needs proven solid hockey guys. Plus in all honesty, players don’t want to play in Buffalo. It’s a shithole. It’s cold, snowy, and has state taxes which most players would rather stay away from.
We are insane to not do everything possible to keep JJ long term. Hes probably the most dynamic player on the team, drives offense, good vision, great shot, and is actually starting to play defense, and play physically. And hes only going into his age 23 season. Trading him after trading Cozens, in a "draft & develop rebuild", where it doesnt seem Quinn is gonna work out, and theyve traded Savoie, who is left as far as fwds who were supposed to ne this young talented core? Benson? Id trade Kulich before JJ. Get the kid some teammates. He just wants to play good winning hockey.
