  1. He didn't say he is the team leader. He said he is our leader. He could just as easily have been calling him out as a leader on defense. Which he was during Marchands captaincy.

  2. I still think that if Pasta was captain it would make him feel better about staying here. What we need is a captain that plays game in and game out. It's very rare that we see him out of the lineup.

  3. I like general Zad more and more every time he speaks. Personally i like Pasta as captain with Zad and Mac as his assistants but wouldnt be surprised if Mac gets it. Either way we need those guys to set the tone for this offseason as far as preparation and expectations for next season and even as recruiters to other players with talent to come here. You are 100 percent correct on that the captain should be who the players want, not us fans or even coaching and management.

  4. Court, what’s your take on “Head Coach” next year? Do you see Sacco coming back and who would you like to see that could bring them back into playoff contention?

  5. I have to laugh about Zadorov. I don't think Zadorov was exposing some huge issue. I am pretty sure they may be an issue w. Sway's game, he's struggling. But we can't blame Sway for every loss. The B's have no energy, no hope right now, and they're lost. As for the next Captain… I could not see Pasta in the role. He's just not THAT type of guy.
    Mac?
He's really one of the few leaders left.
Even him, his answers have no energy. He sounds wiped out. Exhausted. Most of that is how the entire team feels. Looking forward to next year, and starting w. a clean sweep

  6. leaders dont need a letter on their jersey, they are natural about communicating and motivating players to all work together / harder for each other, position does not matter who a leader is or isnt, it is more about building respect and trust within the locker room. regardless of who is going t owear the letters C or A they need to be consistent and honest about all things good and bad Pasta, McAvoy snd Zacha are the most tenured players on the team now so build from there but I am not a Zacha fan, he has issues with his hands and winning puck battles. lets watch the young guys show up and learn

  7. Swayman should focus on playing goal and less about posturing with the other team's goalie. It was a 7-2 loss, and we need more saves and less wannabe tough guy. This pro hockey not pro wrestling. I have no opinion on who the next captain should be. If the players are good with it, so am I.

  8. You missed the start of his Interview when he said "Everything is ending up in the back of the net and it's embarrassing". That was the real dig at Swayman.
Zadorov had to backtrack. Mandated by the team

  9. Pasta or Mac, maybe co-captains. One at home, one on the road.
Even though I think it will be Chuck. Zadorov gets the 2nd 'A'.

  10. I really want the bruins to convince zadorov to waive his no move clause I don’t think he’s responsible defensively he constantly doesn’t make the right play. He’s been putting us shorthanded, almost all season, and now starting drama with the team. This guy has to be off this team in my opinion.

  11. Personally, I think Pasta has reached that stage mentally. This season, unlike previous ones, he has demonstrated leadership skills, sometimes going so far as to harshly challenge teammates on the bench to encourage them to give more on the ice. Another attitude we haven't seen him display: suddenly starting to hit everything that moves, just to wake his teammates from a deep sleep they'd fallen into.

For all these reasons, and the reason why he's one of the best players in the NHL (the one we always count on to help the team win), the Bruins management must make Pasta the next captain. And McAvoy, first assistant captain.

As for Zadorov, he's another poor acquisition by Sweeny. Having a giant frame is only an important criterion if the player is also talented. This isn't the case for him.
And finally, as for Swayman, let's just say that I don't remember a true No. 1 goalie who had a single "excellent" season only to become, the following year, a real sieve (that is to say, perhaps the worst number one goalie in the NHL). So, if during the game against L.A., Swayman wanted to make us forget, with his grotesque act as a stupid clown at center ice, that he doesn't stop pucks and that he is one of the worst goalies in the NHL… then he's failed again!

  12. I think Pasta would make a great captain – Yet not sure he wants to deal with all that BS.

He wants to score and win.

Mac grew up in boston. He's come a long ways from meeting the team airplane late and showing up to practices tardy.

But the idea of leaning toward McAvoy makes me nervous that they think Pasta won't stay!

And naming Pasta Captain probably won't change that type of decision for a player who came to North America looking for a Stanley cup.
    Not a captaincy.

  13. I noticed the comment but chalked it up to loose language – he’s our leader vs he’s one of our leaders.

As someone who speaks a few languages with varying proficiency I know my language precision drops beyond mother tongue. I know Z has been in North America since junior but still could be a slip (maybe Freudian though!).

Have been reading Dom Tiano’s scouting on Bancroft so hope B’s land him.

  14. McAvoy should've been the captain to begin with. I like Marchand a lot, reminds me a little of Ken "The Rat" Linseman. Really liked both players but wouldn't make either a captain. Marchand has a bad reputation with the refs, he's an agitator, tends to take dumb penalties, just doesn't have the temperament to be captain.

  15. Entering the year, six clubs didn't have captains: The Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo, the Blackhawks, Seattle, Tampa and the Utah Hockey Club. As of right now, only the B's and Rangers are without captains. I wouldn't mind a committee of "A's" comprised of Pasta and McAvoy, who already wear the letter but joined by Kastelic and Zadorov. That's the makings of a solid, new leadership group.

  16. Thank you for the excellent Bruins coverage this season. Court, you have the best podcasts and my number one site for Bruins inside information!

  17. The Bruins chasing a college player? What a shocker! Why not? Chasing college plyers got them where they are today.

Oh, wait a minute, they're missing the playoffs, one of the worst team in the league. Maybe it's just me, but maybe they should consider re-thinking their whole strategy of chasing college players. The team might actually get better.

  18. I hope this channel can get some good insights into the players in the summer. It's gonna be a long one

  19. While I didn't hear the clip myself, the OHTER Swayman comment (if he said it) was MUCH worse and NOT ambiguous at all. After another loss, he was asked something like "what's the problem w/ the Bruins?" – his answer was "everything goes in" – which is a clear shot at Swayman – 5th highest G in hockey – who's playing worse than Korpisalo.
I'm sick of hearing fools clamoring for goalie fights – neither guy can move, never mind throw a punch. I'm fine w/ officials stopping it, and it was dumb of Swayman showboating and skating to center ice to challenge Kemper. Z was CORRECT. "is that what that was?" – it's ABSURD to expect a GOALIE to "stick up" for another guy who had his helmet ripped off at the other end of the ice – any 'sticking up for' Khus SHOULD have been done by one of the OTHER guys on the ice – not the G at the far end. For whatever reason, Khusnutdinov was being targeted and cheap-shooted this entire game, and nobody did a damn thing.

  20. I will never get the 'taken out of context' / "I was frustrated at the time" excuse. He said what he said – and he was right. What Swayman did was ridiculous – I have NO IDEA what he was thinking by skating to half ice, but I doubt he was 'sticking up' for anyone. It was a lame tough-guy act

  21. I still have hope for Zadorov. E. Lindholm is a different story. Bruins should just run out 3 assistants. See if Pasta wants to stay
