John Tavares is slow and I'm not sure he is very good in playoffs. Leafs need to let him walk and they need to bring a second line center for a affordable rate. Sign Knies to a 5-6 million dollar deal. Bring in a bunch of energy guys. Offer Sheet Byram and bring in probably 2 wingers and a third line center. Kampf is a fourth line guy. I would even look at offer sheeting McTavish or get one of the ducks young centers.

At least 10 million for 5 years. Tavares is the only Core 4 member who has scored a series winning goal.
They need to look at JT as long term, Mr. Maple Leaf, after his career is over he should be brought into team operations in some capacity, he has represented the team well, lived up to everything that was expected of him and more – A Leaf for life

Considering what the others are paid and his consistent quality play, good health etc…I think 7 or 8 million is very fair…for the leafs…He's worth at least that much…who's better on this team ??? What do they get paid ?

Im guessing 6 to 7 mil for 3 or 4 years. Hes still a point per game player.
He should be a 3rd line center at this point and we just spent on Laughton so where does he fit?
I think TOR just has to let Marner and Tavares walk and TRY to get rid fo Rielly and build a proper team next year!
Mitchy's fate, depends on whether or not he performs offensively, and the team advances past the 2nd round of the Playoffs? Marner's not worth more than 12 mil per, period. Greedy player contracts do not win cups. Just look at the Leafs past 8 years? 1967!!!!!
He needs at least three years and he has been excellent for the Leafs especially this season.

Players CONSTANTLY having great years on their contract years makes me consider how much effort they put into the other years.
I believe the next contract John Tavares signs with the Leafs should be for a per-season cap of under US$5 million but only if Leafs make it to a 2025 conference final. No conference final hopefully will mean the Leafs:
– let him and Mitch Marner walk
– buy out what remains, by June, of the contract of defenceman Morgan Rielly provided that before the buyout window he:
— doesn’t improve his defensive play
AND either
— doesn’t agree to waive his no-move clause
OR
— agrees to do so but no non-Leafs NHL team agrees to trade for him

JT will never get 7M unless hell freezes over 3 times not once … WHO GIVES A RATS ASS what JT gets for Points in Regular season … PLAYOFFS is what counts .. It's the same situation with Marner IF he is INVISIBLE like he has been the last 7 years in the PLAYOFFS Marner is HISTORY " Walk The Walk "
He's 35 great health 18-22 million x3 years….. He's very consistent point a game player…. Never had a 90 point season….so next 3 years i see him as like a 25 goals 40 plus assists..for about 70 points which is solid…. Borderline HOF….
Well if he wins the Conn Smyth, his contract is going to rise. With the Cup and favourites to win it next year, I’d say 5 years, $15m/yr.
