After unofficially requesting a trade out of Chicago, Seth Jones has ripped the Blackhawks for their lack of progress as a team this season. While his critical comments to the media weren’t necessarily wrong, they don’t hold as much weight as they could have weeks (or months, or years) ago.

Jones had one of his best games last night…now that he wants out.
I also think Bedard won't resign with Blackhawks after next season
As a long time hawks fans, not many were excited when Seth Jones was first brought to the team. When the contract was signed it went downhill fast and everyone knew then it was destined for failure. He isn’t the leader they needed. This is long overdue. Everyone’s been waiting for him to go for awhile. Can’t wait.
Also for the hawks being a free agent destination, the players who come here have to weigh money vs a cup. If a Marner or rantanen come here they know they’re not winning a cup here. They’re coming here for money.
As for the hawks comparison to the sharks, the big difference I see is that the sharks have a bunch of talented young forwards that are coming up together and can bond through the struggles. Right now you have bedard with a mixed batch of nhl veterans. He’s got no complimentary piece. As a forward and Vlasic being a defensive man, im sure they aren’t bonding as much as if it was another young forward. Plus bedard had spent his whole life scoring and winning. When you take those 2 things away, it probably gets pretty depressing pretty quick when you look around and see foligno and Maroon and Bertuzzi as your big support pieces that are going to help you carry the load.
Seth Jones should ramp up how hard he is to play against. Start making it miserable for the opponents. Two benefits. Trade partners like this. It will make your opponents play mean too, maybe help wake everybody up.
93 'til infinity!! the hawks are in desperate need of a legitimate head coach. you said it yourself, they're at the ground floor in their current phase (yr 3 of rebuild). the hawks have had eight 1st rd. picks in the last 3 drafts (two more this draft = 10). the future of the hawks rests on the development of these prospects. there are no shortcuts in a rebuild (no pain no gain). keep in mind the hawks are basically overpaying a group of their vets (not including jones) by 10-15mil in cap space (to meet the cap floor). the hawks are not trying to compete, they're trying to buy time for their prospects to develop.
LET'S GO SHAAAARRRKS! 🦈
Vibes are immaculate here in Northern California 😎
I don't blame jones for wanting to go to a contender, but I'm with y'all on the way he's handling this. Yuck. He is rapidly pissing away whatever sympathy I had for him. As for his team, they were expected to suck, just not this bad. But, that's what happens when you're early in a rebuild. The best free agents want to go to a contender, leaving slim pickings. When you're stuck with guys who are trying to drag out what's left of their careers. That rarely goes well, especially when everyone is expecting them to play as if they were still in their prime. At least they have a bunch of kinds coming up. Fortunately, they're giving them time to develop, rather than rushing them up to "have fun" while losing. Things aren't as dire there as the current narrative makes it out to be.
Regarding the Sergachev-Bedard/Murphy incident, that has been par for the course. Bedard has been getting manhandled from Day One, and it's rarely called, especially this season. Yet, they're all too happy to ding him on some ticky- tack call… I would not be at all surprised f he's playing with some sort of injury.
Hawks bad…we get it…but Seth jones soft…not the player he was with nashville…trade him…find a goal scorer.
19:06 Pete nailed that.
Disgrace to the #4, his predecessor.
