Olivier let him off the hook a bit there. Good on Benoit for stepping up, you can pretty much see Olivier saying “this isn’t for you, so if you wanna just go sit down now this is your chance” and Benoit saying “k thanks bye.”

Why did Olivier end the fight prematurely? It's not in his nature to let his opponent off the hook. He certainly didn't go easy on Rempe when the Rangers rookie was outclassed and overmatched last year.
Yeah. Same. Respect for Benoit to step up but you could tell Olivier was holding back because he knew he could destroy Benoit.

All I can say is I RLLY like Oliviers game. How you can pumble guys, but also have the restraint and knowledge of who truly doesn’t deserve the smoke. Can’t wait to watch Olivier in a leafs uniform in 5-7yrs when he’s past his prime😂😭

Every take about this fight is wrong… Benoit, following The Code (TM) did Olivier a huge favour by accepting a fight there. Olivier's team is down 4-0 halfway through the 3rd period and he knows his role, to give some energy and keep some of his team's dignity. I don't think Benoit is looking to engage like that at all, until there is the clutch hug by Olivier. I bet when they are in the hug, Olivier asks him to go, and adhering to The Code, when that's part of your game sometimes you have to oblige the opponent so they don't look bad and that what Benoit does. H lets the fight happen, even though both know its a mismatch. The trade-off for doing Olivier a sold by engaging is that Olivier isn't going full bore on Benoit.
