I think the mismanage meant of Quinn Hughes it’s just another example of even poor management or coaching looking at Demko and other players coming back too early
Keeping Tocchet and Foote will set this franchise back at least two years. It’s unfortunate, Rutherford worked his magic last year acquiring Lindholm and Zadorov, but the coaching staff failed to realize that you have to be aggressive to win in the playoffs – they sat back and Edmonton took it to us in the final two games. And it was more of the same this year. But as GM you need to recognize what’s not working and that’s where they’re failing, too – coaching will need to adapt or it will be another disappointing season!
Other teams are adjusting to Hughes too. Meeting him in his own end so he cant wind up.
Coaches know their shoot out prospects from practices.
There's very little hope for this franchise – especially if they let Boeser walk. Demko is damaged goods; Chytil is borderline retired with his 5th concussion; jury is completely out on Petey ever regaining form; Boeser may leave for nothing; it's a five-alarm fire being potentially unable to convince Hughes to stay (and why would he?). This franchise can't draft or develop worth a damn which is largely why they're in the predicament they're in. We talk about depth – defensive depth – traded Miller away to fill out the back end somewhat with Mancini and Pettersson – but that's because they've drafted and developed two NHL calibre defensemen in the past 13 years (Hughes and Hutton).
13 years since the 2012 presidents' trophy, and they've been mediocre to trash ever since. One or two decent runs in that entire time, which was last year, and arguably 2020. Spent a handful of years retooling, nothing to show for it and now they're right back in the bottom half to bottom third of the league.
