Well this trade caught me by surprised as it seemingly came out of nowhere. They Sens are sending Josh Norris to the Buffalo Sabres for Dylan Cozens. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!
If Cozens does the same thing everyone does when they get traded from Buffalo, this is a win for Ottawa. Gonna miss Norris, but excited to see what the workhorse from Whitehorse can do!
Cozens has been hot garbage. Good luck Ottawa – he's not a workhorse nor is he physical. Nothing but a poster boy for Pillsbury as the turnover machine.
Very hard. Could be 2 bad contracts that needed a change of scenery to be good. Cozens showed that he's a great player when playing with some good players. Just look at his stats in the World Championship! He's above a point a game out of 20 games, He might really prosper with Tkachuk and Batherson as his wingers. Stutzle will probably center Giroux and Zetterlund. Might be a dangerous 2 top lines.
Buffalo will need to be careful with Norris. If he hurts his shoulder again, they can't ignore it and send him for surgery or lose him for nothing.
Norris can't drive a line and he doesn't score well 5 on 5 plus his injury history is worrisome. Ottawa fans will miss Josh but the general consensus is a great deal for the Sens.
This trade was a swap of two high-draft picks who were both disappointments. As far Buffalo GM Adams is concerned, Cozens played himself out of the 2nd Center role. McLeod has been a positive pick-up for the Sabres from Edmonton, and the rookie Yuri Kulich also is a very positive development. Both can play 2nd or 3rd center instead of Cozens – with obviously much better contracts and term
In his first 4 games with the sens, averaging 15:34 of icetime Cozens is – leading the team in +/- (+5) – tied for 2nd in points (2g,2a,4p) – third in faceoff wins (58.1%) – first in faceoffs taken (43) – second in shots (12… 6 less than Tkachuk) – first in hits (20… He had 9 (nine!) in his first game)) – second in hits/60 (19.27… trailing only Gilbert, of all people) … and his advanced stats don't look shabby either (though I can't say much about tgat).

well here we are, 9 days later and Cozens has fit in quite well in ottawa and i think Norris is hurt again lol
