So stoked to see top prospects getting ice-time
Agree!
Now let's see some of the young defensemen get some ice time. Every time Robertson gets a call up, he just sits as a healthy scratch while others give up another game.
Perreault and Othmann need time in the top six with other quality players. These guys are not 4th line checkers they have offensive skills.
Perreault played well & his best pass was to Brodzinski, a no looker on the money. In fact, he made two great passes to Brodzinski. He'll just get better & better with every game. As for Othmann, he's been a bit snake bit around the net but I have been very impressed with his defensive game & his defensive awareness has exceeded my expectations. Berard didn't get much ice time but he was flying around when out there. K'iller scores & people think it's redemption when the truth is that he was HORRIBLE defensively. He constantly turns the puck over(Rossi goal), is often out of position leaving the net front unattended, & looks like he's afraid of getting hit by the puck when he needs to block a shot. Who goes to the bench to get a stick which leaves two guys alone in front of the net? I remember a play where his partner is involved in a scrum for the puck on the boards & K'iller skates toward the corner watching the scrum, not joining it for puck support, but even worse leaving the front of the net undefended! He just doesn't get it & neither does Laughiolette, who holds others accountable but not K'iller. I get that K is fragile emotionally, but it's no excuse to cut him so much slack. Boyle remarked that he looks like a player not having fun out there.
I though GP had a strong first game. its always a question if what you see in the college game can show up in the bigs and two shifts in the answer was a resounding yes. that flub by laf is a move leonard has scored half his goals on. will take some time for the team to get the timing down.
