  1. I’ve seen comments like these before about Tie Domi, stating something like, "the majority of his fights were against non-fighters, and he usually lost when he took on anyone really tough."
    A truly baffling, erroneous statement.

First off, every fighter has some lesser combatants on their card, because intimidating the other team and sometimes acting like a bully is part of the enforcer's job! That means hammering lesser fighters or even non-fighters at times. For example, let's look at the guy everyone holds in high regard, Bob Probert, the guy many people use as the measuring stick for all other fighters. Probert has guys like Langway, Kotsopoulos, MacLean, Otto, Corriveau, Olczyk, Paslawski, McIntyre, Lowry, Foote, and Visheau on his card.

Another highly regarded all-timer is Joey Kocur, and Joey has guys like Bodger, Langevin, Ryan Walter, Mike McPhee, Pavese, Nattress, Lowry, Boyd, Markwart, Thelin, Cirella, Kotsopoulos, Cavallini, DeBlois, Greg Adams, etc on his card.

Domi doesn't have any more non-fighters on his card than those two guys. Bob Sweeney, Matt Hervey, Jiri Slegr, Brian Benning, Drake Berehowsky, Kevin Dineen, Darren Van Impe, Jay Pandolfo, Jay McKee. Domi took on, a VERY strong majority of the time, the heavyweights, the agitators, the rugged defensemen, and other frequent fighters. Out of 330 career fights, that short list is really it, as far as non-fighters Domi took on.

Tie has one of the most impeccable fight cards ever. At one time or another, Domi has victories over men like Ken Baumgartner, Jeff Beukeboom, John Kordic, Alan May, Gino Odjick, Mike Hartman, Gord Donnelly, Bob Probert, Jim Agnew, Grant Jennings, Neil Wilkinson, Rob Ray, Jeff Odgers, Enrico Ciccone, Sergio Momesso, Mike Peluso, Basil McRae, Doug Zmolek, Sandy McCarthy, Cam Russell, Steve Smith, Jim Cummins, Donald Brashear, Dennis Bonvie, Dennis Vial, Chris Simon, Reid Simpson, Bill Huard, Ken Belanger, Shayne Corson, Krzysztof Oliwa, Francois Leroux, Steve McKenna, Darren Langdon, Jamie Pushor, Dave Manson, Randy McKay, Jim McKenzie, Eric Cairns, Jamie Allison, Andrei Nazarov, Matthew Barnaby, Dan LaCouture, Jason Wiemer, Bryan Marchment, Chris Neil, and others.

Yes, Domi had his share of losses, too, but so has everyone who fought as frequently as he did. The bottom line, the real truth, is that Tie Domi's fight card and winning percentage are both excellent.

  2. Tie is awesome guy lived in our neighborhood. Kids Max went to school with our kids. At arenas he always had time for fans. Especially kids. Signed everything. When my son had an awful head injury on ATV. Lots of stitches. Tie came over gave him a signed Jersey and told my son that he has been worse awesome guy.

  3. Overrated goonlet!! That cheap shot on Niedermeyer was c@nt move!! Lost all respect for him after that and I’m a Rangers fan!!

  4. Domi was a dirty MF’er and a big Puss! He likes to hit when players can’t fight back defend themselves. He’s lucky he came out of the NHL alive!
