Will Oilers be underdogs against Kings in Round 1?

The Kings and Oilers are on a collision course to meet for the fourth straight year in the first round of the playoffs. Edmonton won the last three series, but will this year be different? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button shares his thoughts.

  1. They got lucky last year, they were never a great team, Skinner is a dumpster fire and McDavid is not at full potential

  2. Button guys tilt to whoever looks good at the moment. Doesn’t looks at the reality that when they healthy. Plus the players that will make an impact upon return.. he’s talking for a pay checks so that’s understandable..

  3. Button is an idiot. They just beat Vegas with no Fredic, McDavid, Ekholm, Kane….Oilers will beat LA in 5

  4. This guy flips his opinion like a pancake chef. As soon as one team starts winning he pretends any prediction he made on live television never happened…"what?…I never said that." 🤣 Doofus.

  5. Unfortunately too many talking heads in the sports media do not closely follow the Oilers. McDavid, for one, has been coasting all year, missing games here and there, playing 70-80% most nights. Kane has not played a game yet this year, biding his time. Most of the team I think is coasting through the regular season at 70-80%, including Nuge, Hyman, Ekholm. Everyone other than Draisatl essentially. They are all resting up, saving their intensity and energy for the playoffs. After the experience of going to the finals last year, they know its important to conserve energy and peak at the right time.

  6. It’s tempting to say the LA Kings will, in that upcoming conference quarterfinal with the Oilers, beat the Oilers provided neither team will end up catching the Golden Knights for first in the Pacific Division. From the 2019–20 season onward the Kings and Oilers have faced each other thrice in postseason play, and it’ll be interesting to find out what happens in that 2025 playoff series taking into a account the assumption that I made in my previous sentence.

  7. Final 8 games for each team will almost assure home ice for Kings. Injury issues for Oilers + ongoing Skinner saga = Kings in 5.

  8. Oilers fan here, but if the oilers get bounced early I’ll definitely be cheering for the Winnipeg Jets time to bring Stanley home.
