Bargain. I hope Jake knows how much Hab fans appreciate him. Apparently more than his salary indicates. Fourth line centre ? I don't think so. Plays a lot of minutes and especially when closing out games. We could not have found another Jake Evans very easy.
I seen a trade proposal zibanejad to the Habs for mezar and 1nd and 2nd round pick and I don't hate it
Being buyers will depend on the price. I'd rather stick with the program and hope for the best this year knowing that our future is bright. Very happy for Evans, seems to me he definitely wants to remain a Hab.

ya but he has a no trade protection with his contract., so he can literally be gone over the summer… so it's not necessarily for ever! just saying!
Amazing signing of Evans by Hughes…such an unsung hero for this team and his contributions are enormous to a team that struggles down the middle. So we have Suzuki #1C, Evans #4/3C…Hughes just has to go out and find himself an elite #2C for next season…I feel we can have Beck & Kapanen fight it out for that #3/4C spot. What will happen by trade deadline? I do not expect much except bare minimum, a move or 2 to shore up the AHL Laval Rocket. I do agree with you Drew that a hockey trade would make sense…let's see what Hughes&company can find. I highly doubt we will see us getting that ELITE player but more those depth guys to add some grit/sandpaper to our team. I would look for teams looking to move on from a younger player that maybe is not panning out for them, maybe needing a fresh start or about to become an RFA…just an example I came across trying to be an NHL Sherlock Holmes, was Defensemen Luke Prokop from Nashville…22, Righty, defensive defensemen, 6-5, 219lbs, last year of contract becoming (RFA)…now I don't know if he's high touted by Nashville or not but a guy like that would be a nice add w/Savard possibly moving on (unless Hughes can sign him to a 1-2yr lower cap hit hometown discount to be a 5-6 Dman). But a player in that ilk who is on no one's radar but hopefully our crack scouting department can find a gem. Trade deadline Friday can't come fast enough! LOL. Go Habs Go!

Evans youhouuuu! May be we can go further wit what we have until July. We have also pleny of assets that we can trade fore à second line center. Dovorack can also accepte short term deal and be that second line C. It will make space and time for good prospects to develop…. Hage, Kapanen, this year first draft pick….Maybe Beck , Dovorack, Newhook and Dach will be enough for the next season. I think that Beck will stay to be 3rd C long term or be part in an exchange for à 2nd C now.

they need to get tougher and harder to play against, armia, dvorak need to go, get themselves some size and toughness up front. Offseason will be bigger moves IMO
Jake is worth 3 million but he will get 4 solid years in Montreal. Gallagher is his bud and I think because he is so well respected in the room, why leave . He got close to the 3 million. I hope he has a great career.
I knew from the Monty contract that Evans wasn’t going to hit the jack pot in MTL. Jake’s aunt is a customer of mine, and she told me for years how proud he his of being a HAB. So I was hopeful despite the media frenzy that he was going to sign with MTL. Love you Jake.
Nice to be with you once again. I really want to see HUGO go for it and get a big NHL ready piece even if we sacrifice a young prospect and picks to move this rebuild ahead and see some playoff actions. The Boys deserve it….

He's an OG of the current era and of its core, since the beginning of this rebuild after all…
But damn : he had to WORK LIKE HELL all the way through everything to have gotten where he is!

With the cap increase and stuff, even coming from a basically homeless dude like myself, I still know that some other teams could have signed him for like 5X3.5M or 4X4M, etc. He'd been useful for both for a team in the early rebuilding stages (imagine in SJS or CHI) , all the way to a team planning to start or keep competing for many years to come.
2.5M something for 4 years is nothing on the cap, It's peanuts in NHL's money; he took a discount!
And the terms show that the current regime wants to start competing with the next 2 seasons, I think.
So, should they trade picks to start getting there?
Well, yes and no.
It would have to be a player on an expiring contract and/or a long term addition to the rebuild.
Not to mention, instead, our two 2025 first rounders and more picks could be NHL ready in 2 seasons.
Priority is to decide who we plan to keep or not, and like Jake just lock those that are to be kept.
I was thrilled when I read the news that Jake got the contract extension. To be a complete team you need players with his skills and it’s easier to keep the ones you have than to go out and find them! Go habs!!
Jake is treated like a fourth-line center, yet he has more points than any center on our team except Nick.
Jake Evans was part of our Stanley Cup Final run, and it's great for the Habs to have him around for the next one.
I love that Jake is staying. Kudos to Jake, and the Canadiens for making this deal happen!

drew we will never win with savard as a defender on the habs . he brings all of our defense to do the wrong things ( blocking shots & laying on the ice ) he will want to resign for a little over league minimum & he better not get resigned . he ruined gulie. & is making arber so none aggressive that im calling him jackass most of the time. armia better not get resigned. devorak better not get resigned.
