Gil. Roy avoided describing some of the worst defensive play in the league. Duclair is an easy target compared to Dobson, Mayfield, Lee, and so on! What about Roy's poor team management? He doesn't put on the team who are prepared to play night in and night out. He needs to be fired along with the rest of the bench staff, the GM and is son, and everyone else who isn't the owner. The team needs to be sold again…. Lou will not be able to attract free agents … I expect more or less the same roster unless Lou is gone. Ownership is not involved enough to bring change. Fans needs to say away so the team starts to lose money.
Who cares if he "lost the room"! What are we talking about here?! This roster sucks and hopefully, this will force the dead weight off Long Island! Roy is speaking truth! Roys frustrated?! How about us fans?! Speaking for myself, I've been frustrated since 85-86!!!
Lou had to knowe that when he traded Brock that this would happen to the team. They need to get younger and that includes the GM, too.
Gil, do you think that the owners could fire Lou and promote Roy to GM
Lou probably didn't want to trade Palmieri because of the lack of depth in the lineup
I don't believe the players or most players on Isles are unhappy with results. Their common patterns & lack of passion, sticking up for each other, consistent effort goes back many years. It's an infection going back to at least Weight/Capuano. I don't think Lou is unhappy, he built roster & he cuddles & protects the underachieving players. Roy wants to win. Lou promised improved roster past 2 deadlines & last off-season and did next to nothing. Roy wants to win but knows he & no 1 else can w/these players but he knows Lou won't change. Lou doesn't get to fire another coach.
I don't believe it's falls on the coach at all. The inconsistent effort has gone on through many coaches. It started under Snow. The praising themselves for things other organizations wouldn't. The mentality has been passed down & until the roster is purged, it won't change. Next Captain is not on roster, can't be. Same with one or both of assistants. New leadership brought in to set tone. Promoting from in will get you more of the same.
Trying to make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t, not any easy job, but that is what Roy is being asked to do.
My hope is that Yoda's team continues to implode, and ownership is forced to make a change. Then the new GM will have a top 10 pick this year.
Lou should just go to Florida and just enjoy ❤
Retirement ❤for Lou .That's what I meant.
Good 🌄, Gil. How are you? Patrick Roy ate Anthony DuClair alive. Patrick Roy's a very compassionate, and I remember his last game in Montreal and how it turned. Hopefully, when it comes to DuClair, THERE ARE NO HARD FEELINGS, especially since Patrick Roy is the reason he came to the Islanders in 1st place. The way the Islanders have played all year, it's safe to say that his last nerve has been worked. As much as I hate to say this, the Islanders should start playing for next year. This is starting to work on the players last nerve, too. If the Islanders want to know what went wrong, any 🪞 in the locker will do just fine. I've said it before, and I'll say It again. COMPLETE OVERHAUL. They signed Cameron Berg. He'll be be playing at Bridgeport. HAPPY 🎂, KEVIN WEAKS. He came full 🔵 playing for The Islanders, 👿, and those dreaded Rangers. His finest game was against the Blackhawks that ended in a tie, and he made 47 saves. Hear from you later, Gil. I'm currently 👀 Game 4 of the 1975 Semifinals between the Islanders and the Flyers. This game was the start of another comeback for our Cinderella team. Key moments besides the OT winner were Chico Resch stopping Bill Barber on a penalty shot, Bob Nystrom, who was having an ugly playoff run because he couldn't score a goal, came to the toy 🐅 rescue and got the rest of the 🌙 off, living proof that Nystrom will have his teammates back, an WORRY ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES LATER, and Reggie Leach being told that the puck went into the net after the red light went on so it didn't count. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
I have a feeling the owners (whether bc they’re in it for the long haul or gearing up to sell) will make dramatic changes this offseason to effectively hand Roy the keys to the franchise. The empty seats will force their hands to do something. There’s no way they can accept that as investors.
Good morning team! Gil, sorry I missed the episode yesterday, I'm in catch up mode. Honestly, I agree with Roy. Duclair is not playing to his expected level. Maybe there is a lot to be said for his supporting cast though. Can't expect one player to be as productive, when with another team, without some degree of talent playing with him. That's a major reason the team needs a rebuild, to say the least. It's been a frustrating season, and I for one, is looking forward to the off season. Never thought I would say that, but that's what frustration does. Except for a select few, I truly would love to see a brand new team at the start of next season. Tomorrow against the Wild, and Sunday the Capitals. Even though we are home, I can't expect a different result. The losing streak should continue to 8 after this weekend's games are over. Everyone, have a wonderful day! See you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!
My thoughts are this…unless ownership gets rid of Lou and put Roy in control, Roy will walk away from this nightmare. The man has shown unbelievable and uncharacteristic restraint with this team but everyone has their breaking point.
Reminds me of the classic Michel Therrien rant. Sorry he deserves it. LGI
In Roy we trust…or just me if no one else 🙂
Patrick Roy is an excellent coach and has exhibited more professional composure behind the bench with an inferior group of players! He’s not the GM and it’s on Lou with what has materialized year after year after year!!!! Time for a new GM
Got to be honest, Roy known Duclair since their QMJHL days. I don’t think it’s that serious. But what do I know, I think it’s just a coach that wants to light a fire under a player he’s coached since 2013-14
Gil don't understand Lou
In New Jersey he was ruthless ,
Fired coaches and assistant aggressively always had a mixture of size , speed , toughness and skill. Good depth on Devils and farm. Here exact opposite in all areas .
I cant believe we have sensitive babies as players like DuClaire who after he gets reamed a new one drops off the radar and quits on the season and leaves the team. THAT IS THE PROBLEM…LOU GETS PRISSY PLAYERS THAT CANT PRODUCE
I was happy when Duclair came to Isles. Very disappointed in his play. If he’s still hurting he should have said so. Roy knows him since Juniors. He gave him a lot of rope. He’s going to be here for 3 years. Team needs better direction than signing journeyman players and expecting miracles. This is the end. Time to retool.
It’s a PIA to go to gsmes at UBS. parking a mile away. Wslkifrom train a mile away. It’s going to be back to the future there 6500 a game. At least open up the garage. It’s empty waiting for someone to visit the ghost town they built next door.
The Islanders should shut down Anthony Duclair for the year. Let him get ready for next season.
It was obvious that he returned from his injury not completely at 100%.
I've been saying this ad nauseum but I think it's still true.
Until changes are made both in the front office and the player roster.
Patrick Roy is going to be a very unhappy head coach.
Ya remember thats what happened here with Roy in Colorado where he won a Jack Adams a few yrs prior & 2 Cups as a player. It was more a philosophical difference here but Roy is emotional & passionate for sure. Quit on the eve of training camp & thats how we got Jarod Bednar.
Does Ledecky, Malkin, Collins and the other 2 partners still own the team? The reason I ask is they seem to be a far distance from their fans. In other words they are M. I. A…..How can you all just sit and allow this GM to ruin this franchise? You guys should either sell the team to an owner who knows how to win, or start earning your money and interview some future GM'S…Lou and Son MUST be released NOW before the draft and free agent.
