Kane has to be pretty disappointed in the job Yzerman has done with this roster.
I like Simon and think he will be an elite d-man longterm but he's been bad since 4 Nations too, as Mo has. Part of that is likely rookie fatigue late in a long season at the highest level. Part of it as with Mo has likely been the pairings.
as for Kane the fanbase's (or anyway a large % of it) lack of appreciation for what he's done and been since the coaching change is really sad. if he hasn't been the best player on the team since Lalonde was fired, he has been no worse than 2nd in that time. and despite what those w bias against him will claim, it hasn't just been on the power play either – tho that when it runs hot is running almost entirely thru him, yes. his 5v5 lines with Cat have been consistently the team's best and most dangerous since Lalonde first put them back together (w Copp) in mid December. Kasper's line w Larkin and Ray ran hot for a minute but levelled off and in its final 8 games together lost 4-1. and Kane/Cat were mostly broken up anyway during its run. when they've been together this year they've been the best line, almost game for game.
I have a crazy idea. Hire someone to head up pro scouting. No prospects… Just pros. Try to avoid disappointments like Tarasenko and Holl. Like… Did Yzerman not read all of the thank you letters for getting Holl OUT of Toronto? Drafting has been BEAUTIFUL! Pro signings .. last good move was getting Walman and biggest blunder was trading Walman AND a 2nd. Just have someone to tell SY hey… Don't get this guy and don't trade that guy. I just think SY is so busy building the future that he's struggling to keep up with right now.

Thank you for correcting certain other podcasters (& fans) about Seider. I listened to that, and turned it off because I was p.o.'d at them. Certain other podcasters come off rather egotistical (I appreciate your goofiness & being real) but very obviously don't know crap about statistics. Seider being out there SO much, he's going to have ups and downs… But holy heck, his ups are immensely more up than his downs. Thank you for renewing my faith in podcasters… Or at least in you. 😁

Edvinsson is fine, but he needs to get in the weight room. He’s the largest person on the ice 90% of the time, and he really needs to start playing like it. I’m so sick of watching him get pushed around like he’s half his size. Rn his reach is the only part of his size that he’s made into a strength. If someone comes within arms reach of him, he needs to dominate physically.

I think the hardest thing about the 4 nations is that it interrupts the season. I wish they'd do it like NFL with the pro bowl, after the season is done.
Good things, positive feelings: I get to golf all May and June. I won't have to sit in front of the TV for the next 2 months or pay $20 for a beer at LCA and stand in line to pee. I won't be spending hundreds of dollars on playoff merchandise. I won't be betting buddies about a 1st round sweep. I won't sit and worry all game day whether we win or lose during May or June. At least my Shark Fan buddies won't hassle me because their record is worse. But not much.
The only negative thing I can think of is, "do I blow another $80 of Center Ice next year and wait for our 10th season missing the playoffs.
Aljo has been very good under the radar d-man rookie for us this year imo too. Which is huge since we though maybe at best a bottom pair guy but he can hold his own as just a steady guy even on the second pairing.
Seider hasn't been at his usual level. It's ok to acknowledge that.
