  1. This Avs team might be better than the team that won the Cup in 22. They are an absolute wagon, and anything short of winning it all will be a huge disappointment.

  2. As a lifelong Avs fan, I genuinely haven't felt this good about a line up since our 22 cup win, and our goal tending is better now than it was in 22! Losing Mikko sucked at the time…. but Marty is a stud and Jack has been as solid of a bottom 6 guy as you can get. Seems like a good locker room guy as well. That Mikko trade also opened the door for more depth moves especially down the middle. A big key is if Val can keep it together this playoff run. If not… We'd need a miracle from Landy to come back in form which you really can't bet on. Plus having a solid tendy tandem after the extreme inconsistencies we've had in net the last few seasons has to give the team more confidence to play their game and not worry so much about being perfect, and as a fan knowing we have a net minder who can steal us a game or two is huuuggeee. Unreal mid-season fixes, can't wait to see how it all shakes down!

  3. Chicago's a trap game if ever I saw one, but I feel like the Avs could get 6 wins going into playoffs. Not a cake walk by a long shot, but doable. Also, gonna be weird playing against Mikko in the playoffs.

  4. I see what your doing here, trying to jinx the Avs. 😂 And on April 1st.

Seriously though, thanks for this deep dive into the Avs.

  5. Yea the Avalanche made trades to replace players in the lineup that frankly lacked defense and replaced them with forwards that play a full 200 foot game. And that is what makes them sooo dangerous in the playoffs.

  6. It's a shame that either the Avs, or the Stars, get bounced in Round 1. It may just come down to Oettenger, and whether he plays well, or plays lights out. Also, a single injury to a key player, on either side, could be catastrophic; they are that close.

  7. Lets see a Avs vs Lightning rematch. Both teams have reloaded. Id say both are true cup contenders this year again. Both teams made big time moves to position themselves.

  8. The Stars worried me before trades this year. Avs are now much deeper than they were and in my opinion bigger and tougher. It's all about health. I'd like to see the Avs give some guys rest instead of trying to catch Dallas, which isn't likely.

  9. Who in the hockey world would be ignoring the avs? They're a clear front runner in the west… favorite in my eyes to get to the cup.

  10. If McFarland doesn't win GM of the year and Bednar coach of the year, they're never gonna win it. Bednar had an AHL team after the first line and number one d tandem.

  11. I was scared Necas had a serious injury tonight when he went to the locker room grabbin his neck. But then he comes back out and puts in the tying goal to send it to OT, then Nate Mack does em’ dirty in the shootout and Lehkonen finishes it off.. We’re just fine.

BUT, like you said, Drouin goes out of the game with an injury and never comes back. That’s not good. So we’re still fine, but not great.. They need Landeskog to get his ass back in the lineup already. Like it’s been 3 years dude, either come back or cough up that C on your sweater and give it to MacKinnon already.

  12. If the Avs do well in the playoffs Chris MacFarland HAS to win the GM of the year award. This is an insane transformation of a team going from top heavy bad goaltending to one of the best tandems and great depth. Not to mention the fantastic work on the stick Rantanen situation

  13. Superb summary video. And I agree, out of all of it I'm basically shocked at how effectively we were able to address/upgrade the goalie position. Huge plaudits are deserved!

  14. This is why it's so obnoxious that Bednar isn't even in the conversation for the Jack Adams. He's dealt with an insane amount of injuries, crazy turnover. Getting one of his top players traded away. Dealing with a horrible goaltending tandem that got completely revamped. And yet the avalanche are still third in the division. The disrespect is real.

  15. Colorado's road to the Cup this year lies with Nuchushkin. He needs to be sharing a room with Bednar during the entire playoffs 🤣
