I’m a blues fan and even I was wary about the Fowler trade too when it first came out. He absolutely proved me wrong, he’s stepped up big time especially with Parayko being out right now
I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm just enjoying the ride. The Blues are having fun and they're fun to watch.
I'm enjoying the ride, we've come a long way. If Colton was here now I would feel a lot better. The team has invested in forwards early in they're drafts and been very successful in their evaluations. But not sure about the defensive side. Hopefully we can pick up some high end talent this off year in trades or FA. But I'm not positive whats in the minors either. I do trust Bill to get us what is needed. Go Blues.
this is the 6th video today i’ve seen about the nhl being afraid of the blues and i love it honestly. this is absolutely amazing and insane. GO BLUESS. WOOOOOO💙
I do not see this as a repeat of 2019. The Blues were supposed to be good that year. The story of that season was rising to the level that was expected of them. 2025 is different. You look at the bottom six and the defense core, and it looked like a mess at the beginning of the year.
The Blues were retooling, and according to best guesses that retool could only be completed when some really bad defensemen contracts–Krug, Faulk, and Leddy–expired. Krug is injured and may never return; Leddy looks passable after coming back from injury and when Parayko gets back he will be just fine as a third pairing guy. And Faulk has had the blessing of playing with Broberg, who is covering for all of Faulk's defensive weaknesses. Blues fans have been talking about Fowler as the perfect pairing for Parayko for as long as I can remember.
TL:DR. This team is more exciting than 2019 because no one expected it. I still look at this team on paper and can't believe it is having this much success.
LGB!
Myron
Broberg reminds me of a young Lidstrom.
Blues fan here… id love to see them go deep into the playoffs, but ill be happy just seeing them there. This team was written off by everyone for them to make it. …. good stuff.
I haven't been able to locate it, but right after the Cam Fowler trade I saw an article that said the Blues just acquired the worst defenseman in the NHL. To be fair they had some stats that did kinda back up their argument. But they didn't make any room for how a fresh start with a new team could change his trajectory. Anyway, I find it funny I can't find this article now, almost like whoever posted it has quietly taken it down.
MVP? Doug Armstrong
The thing that the rest of the league doesn't understand about Binner is that he is an elite level goalie. His numbers and stats don't represent his raw ability because even the best goalie in the world will be lit up when he has dogshit defense in front of him. Give Binner a solid blue line and he will absolutely keep the team in any and every game they play.
Doug Armstrong is the MVP and GM of the year. Without him Blues wouldn't have Monty or Holloway or the 10 game win streak.
Most teams would go to battle in the playoffs where their defensive pairing is Broberg and Faulk, Fowler and Parayko, Old Man Suter and Leddy. That defense is pretty stacked with experience and a perfect atmosphere to surround Broberg who could end up being a generational defensive talent.
