With hindsight being 20/20, I don't think anyone could have predicted just how bad Jeremy Swayman was going to be this year, nor what busts E.Lindholm or Zadorov were going to be. So it's only natural to place the blame on Sweeney; each of those are huge contracts that I really hope has some fine print and hidden performance stipulations to leave the team with some kind of options to rid themselves of their mistakes at the end of the season. Had each of those players played to their expectations, and had Hampus Linholm not spent the majority of the year injured, I don't think the B's would be lost in dire straits as they are now. So unless there is a suitable replacement, Sweeney and Neely will likely stay put. But I would love to see Bergeron or Chara return and take up the head coaching job — that would go a long way I think.
Only issue I see… Sweeney has been very sub-par on drafting… Lots of swings and misses…
I'm not a fan or hater of Sweeney. He's been bad at drafting tho. After seeing the B's bomb I'm happy to see marchand in a place where he can chase the cup, he deserves it, he's earned it. I thought he'd be right back in the black and gold next year, but I don't know any more.
That said, I'm nervous of Sweeny in charge of draft picks while these next cpl years are so important. Just the thoughts of a mad man with a passion for the spoked b. I hope he doesn't waste pasta and big mac, he was a great guy for the team when he was on the ice but I'd hate to see him go down as a disappointment, as a failed legacy
