this is 100% facts every time im ready to give up on the isles they go on a winning streak then i get a small morsel of hope then they immiediatly start losing.
Valid points all around. One of your best videos. Need new management. That's #1. This wishy washy middling of things is not good for the franchise long-term.
Ha, don’t think I’ve ever heard Matt describe the Jets as a “garbage team that I hate” as much as they deserve it over the years. 😂
Now you guys are freaking out!? I've been freaking out for the past 3 seasons!!!
That 7 game win streak was with half the defense out, which I think is the largest underlying issue. Sportslogiq says so too.
I gotta say Matt's opening statement was spot on its literally been 3 seasons of this shit ending like this
I can tell you this lou is out and I promise they will take a hard run at marner
Every game is so predictable for me. I knew they weren’t going to win either game this weekend. I even guessed the exact score of the lightning game. But for some reason, I just keep watching.😂😂
I totally agree. Watch tomorrow's game and look at how empty UBS is. You can't stop fans from not coming. New GM- Coach- Developmental Coaches. Maclean was put there by Lou in case things went sideways he is awful, PP/Penalty kill is dreadful.
cmon, it doesnt get any worse than Mike Milbury, our main player is out, fisherman logo was the bottom of the barrel
And we all know it starts with ownership on down. A big FN joke. I have not watched a game since the trade deadline. It took over 49 years for me to shut down this shit show.
I must respectfully disagree that this Islanders team is the most frustrating one in franchise history. I'd say the 1978 and 1979 teams were gut wrenching beyond imagination.
In 1978, the Isles were eliminated by the Toronto Maple Loafs, and I still hate the Loafs for that, as Roger Neilsen's shenanigans instituted a change to the league's icing rules. The Loafs led by one in the third period and iced the puck at every chance and made a line change. That led to the current rule that a team that ices the puck must keep the same players are on the ice. Toronto deserves to have an arena in hell for this, as well as for tampering prior to the John Tavares signing (and don't even try to tell me they didn't try to tamper).
Then in 1979, the Islanders finished first overall in the league and lost in the semifinals to the Rangers. That is the point where it did feel like they'd never win a Cup. Oh, and the Rangers won game one of the finals, but mailed it in with four straight losses against a beatable Habs team … because, well, they are the Rangers.
That doesn't even cover the reign of terror of GM Mike "The Mook" Milbury, and the John Spanos ownership debacle (and that is as much on the league for not verifying he had the money he claimed to have, which of course, he didn't).
Being an Islanders fan means never being able to say "nah, that will never happen", because it just might, and still coming back for more.
To get me past this recent lost weekend, on Sunday night, I binge watched YouTube highlight packages of all six games from the 2021 series against the Penguins.
Remember, we could all be traitorous wretches and root for somebody else, but what fun would that be?
Lou will be gone! Summertime retool or rebuild. Plus a scorer with lightning speed this draft.
So I am glad everyone has caught up to the fact the Lou has crippled this team. The 2 ECF runs were rosters built by Garth and then LL traded 1st rd picks for JGP and Palms. Neither of which got us over the hump. Meanwhile TB just continues to be a contender after being in same position. Mayfield, parise, varly, Palms, all could've been moved for assets to get this team better but his loyalty and sentiment has gotten in the way. He is the lone reason this team sucks to watch as a fan. The players give effort, but they just aren't good enough. That's not a sin, it's who is filling these roster spots. Just garbage. Not selling Palms and defensemen is just criminal. God help us.
Malkin will probably sell soon.
I love you guys for the honesty! The Isles are in the "muddy middle" as it's been described. How about this: let's not make the playoffs, get rid of Lou, get rid of McClean as the PP coach and rebuild the team…
ISLANDERS fan my entire life I knew from day one, in fact, before that, that this team was going to do nothing. And that's because they did nothing to better themselves besides duclaire. They overvalue players every year. It's an embarrassment every minute of the day with this team
this is a product of an aging GM running a team whose game has passed him by.
Pick please!😁
Oh but it was “just one game” back in October and November, right? When will people figure out that the way this team plays game one is the same way they’re going to play game 82?
They just drive me nuts. So close and they just keep tripping themselves up.
Lou has no idea what he's doing. Every player deserves an overpriced 7 year deal that handcuffs the team indefinitely. And instead of improving, the team doubles down on stupid. Seldom are there more than 3 players on a roster deserve to return. This is one. This team does nothing consistently well.
Honestly…If you looked at the roster before the season started, this team is where they figured to be in the standings. They somewhat overachieved if anything. The Islanders had Absolutely no right to expect a playoff spot and if not for their franchise goalie, they would be last in the East. You can tell yourself whatever you want….but those are the facts!
All the fans are on the same page. We all knew the team was mediocre at best. We were all waiting for moves that never came. Promised of moves. They get duclair. He got hurt and is nada as of now. Why do we always get close to the playoffs? One answer – The goalies. How can you even make the playoffs with the worst power play in the league? Has that ever happened? Again all fans wanted moves at the deadline. Lou tried to sign nelson and even gave him a very decent offer. You mean we would have had no moves? CRAZY…..We have never ever let young players play. Dufour just to talk about him comes up for 1 game has a few mistakes then sent down???????? George was forced because we had injuries. How great was it to see a young guy like that? We have no enforcer. We better get on because with these young guys hopefully playing there better be a GUY. Why would marner come here. We have so many issues. Nelson is probably thrilled playing with Colorado. We need at least 5 + player changes. Time for major moves.
