Bears MUST Draft the Trenches in Round 1! | Chicago Bears Draft Breakdown

Welcome to Bears on Tracks by Chicago Sports Podcast—your go-to source for everything Chicago Bears! In this episode, we break down why the Bears MUST prioritize the trenches in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Two game-changing prospects stand out: Kenneth Grant (DT, Michigan) and Will Campbell (OT, LSU).

Why These Two Are Franchise-Altering Picks

Kenneth Grant (DT – Michigan)
• Size & Power: 6’3”, 340 lbs—built to dominate the interior.
• Run Defense: 30+ run stops last season, ranking in the top 5 among Power 5 DTs.
• Pass Rush Upside: 5.5 sacks from the interior in 2024, a rare blend of size and explosiveness.
• Athleticism: Moves like a player 30 pounds lighter, making him a disruptor on all downs.
• Bears Fit: Would instantly upgrade the interior next to Montez Sweat, filling a massive need at DT.

Will Campbell (OT – LSU)
• Elite Pass Protection: Allowed just 1 sack in two seasons as LSU’s blindside protector.
• Run-Blocking Mauler: 85.3 PFF run-blocking grade—perfect for a power-run scheme.
• Athleticism: 5.02 40-yard dash at 325 lbs—rare agility for a tackle.
• NFL-Ready: Dominated SEC competition, proving he can protect Caleb Williams from Day 1.
• Bears Fit: Upgrades the offensive line, securing the future of the franchise with a true anchor at LT.

Final Takeaway

The Bears must invest in the trenches to dominate in the NFC North. Whether it’s Kenneth Grant disrupting offenses or Will Campbell protecting Caleb Williams, either pick sets Chicago up for long-term success.

  1. I TOLD YOU safety is a need, everyone is on a expiring contract. Xavier Watts is perfect at 39. And Quinshoun Judkins at 41. Maybe TE, or OL Depth in the 3rd

  2. Why do you want Campbell? Who's job is he going to take?? The Pro bowl RG? The All Pro LG? At LT with the 2nd shortest arms in the league at that position?? We don't have a DT of the future! Kenneth Grant!!!

  3. Scouts don't want longer arms because they look nice, Leanth is important for finnding off speed to power. ONLY OT'S only have this issue. When the DE and OL strait arm each other on the edge, whoever has the most Leanth will have the MOST power in that move, while the other is struggling to adjust because he cant reach. Power, speed and Leanth equals advantage.

Nobody is saying Campbell is bad, but in the Pro Game the best pass rushers ON THE EDGE use a combination of their speed leanth power speed and bend to get to the QB So that's why Scouts measure it

Next year is a outstanding year for LT in the Draft. If Braxton isn't the future, and Kiran doesn't get better, Next year's Draft will tale care of that

  4. Peter Skronski was a generational OT in college but his arms was the same size as Campbell's. Tennessee Drafted him at 8 to be their LT. Before the season started he played LG.

Zach Martin of Dallas was a the best LT in years! Same size arms as Campbell's. Now is is a LG

Only 1 starting LT in the League has arms that short. The guy on the Colts. And he soon to be replaced.

    Campbell is a Guard

  5. They not drafting will Campbell at 10 to sit on the bench they gonna draft either RB,edge rusher,or DT at 10
