Did Panthers’ Mikkola break NHL code vs. Canadiens?

TSN Hockey analyst Martin Biron joins Domino’s That’s Hockey to discuss if Panthers defenceman Niko Mikkola broke the NHL code with his last-second slap shot in Sunday’s loss to the Canadiens. Biron also shares if he’s expecting retribution from the Habs when the teams meet again Tuesday night.

  1. Go Habs Go… they may not make it.. but they’re trending up over the year compared to last few…

  2. The Bell center is going to be the 7th man on the ice so to speak – there will be real nastiness from the crowd towards the Panthers PARTICULARLY because Brad Marchand is also on the team and he's got history with the Habs too – many reasons for the Bell center to be even more vocal than usual….

  3. It was a dick move but what rule did he break? I wouldn’t do it. He broke code but not an official rule. I wouldn’t fine or suspend him. I’d let the players make him pay the price for breaking code. No rule saying you can’t shoot from any part of the ice with any specific time on the clock. Maybe he gets lucky and it goes in the net. Maybe he gets a bonus for a certain number of goals in a season and he is close to the bonus. Maybe he frustrated or just a dick move. No rule broken so no fine or suspension from me. I would let the players police the game in this situation.

  4. Pezzeta will flatten him at the right time. Xhekaj is not playing tomorrow which is a good thing. Pezz can do the job and flatten him.

  5. You guys gonna call out all the dirty hits to greer’s head and face that the habs took or is it just Florida that bothers you? No need to respond I already know the answer

  6. Im sorry but if there is time on the clock you should not get fined for shooting a puck at the net . I have not seen a time of when the shot was taken . Call it stupid or dirty if you want .

  7. NHL fans don't understand it's a shit show very surprised the league bothered the stupid $5 thousand fine wow….. please ask people do you like nhl hockey? then ask do you like hockey? Way more like the second because most people understand sports are representative of their society, And why can the nhl hire people just to go out and intimidate (fight) the skill players when it is a crime in our country?

  8. The worst of it all for me is that he got the puck with 12 seconds left so if he wanted to score and make a miracle he wouldve attacked with the time left but instead he went behind the net waited for 1 second and shot it, i think he was aiming for monty honestly just to bother him but yeah that couldve been dangerous

  9. What a bunch of sensitive French Trudeau’s clowns 🤡 Millikolla tried one more shot at goal ,so what !!!😄

  11. What's the saying, "play till the whistle blows"? The game is 60 minutes long which means you expect to play for 60 full minutes no matter the score. Does this mean that if the score is 6-0 with five minutes to play the team with nothing shouldn't try to score since they can't come back? Are they not allowed to shoot on net because there is no chance to win? Maybe the league should put in a pussy mercy rule for teams that can't handle a slapshot being taken with time still on the clock.

  12. He wasn't even trying to score. The shot went way left. Looked like he was trying to hit Savard.

  13. Hope this give the Habs fuel to win back-to-back against the defending champs – agreed, can't risk a needless penalty. Just finish checks and send a message by outscoring them! Glad Mikkola got fined, though, as he should have.
