  1. It's the most schizophrenic iteration of the Habs that I've ever seen. Start the season ugly, keep it for a stretch then, with essentially the same personnel, go on streaks of 4 in a row (against teams they should beat), then mediocrity, then an incredible winning streak (5 in a row and 8 of 10) against QUALITY teams like Florida, Colorado, Dallas etc., even on the road. Dobes winning his 1st 4 including a premier shutout against Florida and looking real good technique wise while doing it then he absolutely loses his mojo and hasn't come close to finding it again – schizo exhibit A! Then Heineman goes down and so does the team.
Unbelievably, they start another short winning streak and then hit that wall everyone is describing. Throughout they also went on short streaks of winning OT games and some really inspiring combacks to at least get a point, then they can't sustain the OT magic to get that extra point.
The hopeless haters and some of the faithful need to remember this team was supposed be bottom of the barrel…AGAIN and they haven't been. They have been fun to watch at least half the time and showed real no quit grit several times this year when I thought they were done before the 3rd period. They are ahead of schedule regardless.

  2. Things "got serious" long before this. Started with getting behind against the Isles and Avs, and having to go all out to salvage a single point. Got scary with the brutal loss to the Blues. Season ended with the loss to the Flyers. This game only confirmed it.

  3. On a brighter note, if both Columbus and NYR pass us in the standings, plus maybe the Wings and a couple of teams in the West, we pick significantly earlier in the draft. As long as HuGo doesn't do something else stupid like trading a 1st & a 2nd for another Newhook type, of course. 😔

  4. It was frustrating to watch. Is it me or does it seem like Laine doesn't really want to play anymore? The team is not clicking in general. Gally puts in 110% like always. There's no synchronicity in the team.

  5. Let's not EVER forget how Laine lit a fire under Columbus with his selfish, childish, unprofessional comments about his former teammates. Cost us 4 points in the standings vs the Jackets, and 2 points against everyone else. Could well turn out that him shooting off his mouth costs us a playoff spot.

  6. Very disappointed with this game. Too right Josh, Carolina was simply more aggressive and beat them to the puck constantly. 5 losses in a row at such a critical time I think reveals the soft underbelly at defence. The forwards need to help out more defensively and shut down front of net opportunities more effectively (thinking Evans). Anyways, kick some dirt over that and reset. Thanks Josh.

  7. Josh, man i appreciate ur positivity throughout these stressful times, ur appreciated bro….at this point even if they squeeze their way in, whoever they play, its gonna be a sweep….im no longer sure its worth it tbh

  8. Think overall fatigue has been catching up with the team and the Habs have terrible luck in Raleigh (last win there in April 2016). Also before the game, Habs were 6-16-3 in last 25 vs the Canes. St. Louis has to balance the lines and pairings more or it will compound the team fatigue. Have a feeling that bag skating is coming if they went back to Montreal right away.

  9. u want to talk positive ? i will talk positive! let talk about how many shots we blocked . thats great right?? you clowns on this channel praise how great our defense is by blocking shots. you guys & MSL like our defense laying on the ice & screening our goalies. all our defenders our blocking shots instead of playing the puck or the man. even arby jackass is ruined !!! with this style & our lack of leadership ( shit you guys & MSL both think savard & sazuki are leaders) the habs will never have a chance to win a cup!!!!

  11. I'm so sick and tired of msl sitting xhekaj when he makes one mistake every five games but matheson never gets in trouble never when he makes a mistake. He over plays monti and barely plays Dobes. Dobes is the better goalie

  12. well…i do know what it is. It's like the jiu-jitsu guy trying to take down the wrestler. The habs cant be dumping chasing all freaking game . If you had all the deffence exit that are just the habs lubbing the puck to opposide defence, you see the habs givving the puck away ALL!!! game long so anoying to see that low level of creativity slash risk taking. You play the game in front of you…yeah but u dont have to take the first move availlable every time…

  13. Nobody expected the team to make the playoffs this year. We are close to a spot and not done yet (keep the faith!). I would call this season a huge step forward whether they make the post season or not. Everyone just relax and enjoy the excitement of a totally unexpected run for a playoff spot. GO HABS GO!

  14. Make matheson the 7 D and move struble up struble has been playing so well. And my god everygame im yelling HIT THE NET!! They just make what should be easy stuff hard.

  15. Our D collectively allows more goals against than most teams in the league. Monty is not a number 1 goalie. This team won’t make the playoffs this year. Next year is doubtful too unless something drastic changes.

  16. Our Defence got completely embarrassed 4 games in a row now. We need a 2C to play with Demidov. And our Defence is trash. Def need to rework our D in the off season. Reinbacher looks like he will be a top2 D tho.

  17. The Habs will do better next year.
They need another physical defence guy and a big second center..if you bring two player with skill this team will be hard to beat..

  18. Don’t give up boys!! 10 games left anything can happen… but the future is bright GO HABS GO ❤

  19. Last night, two goals came directly from mistakes by the Habs defense. Matheson, who had full control of the puck, let Aho strip it away, leading to a Canes goal. Xhekaj, who logged only 3:52 of ice time, stepped into a Canes forward, creating a 2-on-1 that resulted in another goal. Mistakes happen, and overall, the defense has been playing well — but at this point in the season, there’s not much excuse for these kinds of lapses. That said, the Habs have been playing some very exciting hockey. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to be in this position at the start of the season, and I’m proud of how they’ve performed so far.

  20. The issue seems to be that we lack that "punch" 5v5. Matheson and savard are great defenders on the PK but severly lacking 5v5 because they just dont have the burst. Theyre both very flat footed and it works for killing penalties but bites us in the even strength. Then laine is the opposite but has the same issue. He's awesome on powerplays but often struggles even strength because he's just sooooo slow. Then i think whats really now bringing all these issues to light is that everyone's running out of gas. They pushed so incredibly hard to get here that they just dont have the energy left to finish the job. I think this means that we have potential going forward but need a fairly drastic roster overhaul this off-season
