The Dallas Stars have their sights set on winning the 2025 Stanley Cup, which would be their second championship in franchise history if they accomplish their mission. Recently, the Vegas sports books have elevated the Stars as the odds-on favorite to hoist the Cup this June. In order to be the last NHL standing through the grueling playoff campaign, Dallas is going to need the services of their all-world defenseman, Miro Heiskanen. The Finnish blueliner is currently rehabbing from knee surgery, the result of a nasty open-ice collision with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone on January 28th. Stars are PDO merchants right now, and that's ok by me. But it won't hold in the playoffs
If they need Miro that badly, maybe they should have addressed that at the deadline…just saying.
Games are not won by one player. I one hundred percent think yall are blowing this a little over the top. Robo is cooking with fire again I knew that would only be a matter of time, miko is settling in nice, Harley has been producing, desmith and otter are doing great in net. It would be great to have no injuries but I don't think missing one player will be the decider on victory
Miro is one of the 5 best defensemen in the NHL . For Pete’s system he might be the best fit of all the top D-men. He is the most critical piece of the Stars team defense and he does so many little things to cover others limitations and mistakes . I don’t know if they can get past Colorado without him . Such a shame that Stone’s bonehead move can affect the Stars whole playoff outlook.
The issue is that it's not just Miro being gone, but Lundkvist is ALSO out. That's 2/3 puck-moving defensemen. Lindell is an underrated passer with some offensive vision, but he's stuck babysitting positionally-unsound Ceci or Dumba. Miro covers up a lot of defensive issues and has let the front office get goofy with their roster building in that regard – Sean Walker and Matt Roy were out there but don't have that 'physicality' BS reputation so we got washed up Dudes instead (respect to Boosh though). Hell, Ryan Suter is legitimately a better (and cheaper lmao) defenseman than three of our current options.
Stars offense NEEDS the d to be able to move the puck up to the forwards and activate on the rush, and they have the equivalent of three Jani Hakanpaas out there. It's not just Miro's absence, it's who has to be elevated because of that absence. This was a punted season as soon as Calgary and Seattle made it clear Andersson and Larsson weren't on the market.

Dallas is cooked in the first round versus Colorado. Even if Miro is back, he won’t be 100% Now you got Dumba and Ceci ( both came from teams that know they suck)
