You guys need to fight back and stop just taking a beat. It's hockey, fights are part of the game, where are the enforcers at? Why aren't the defensemen taking on the other teams bully? Why just give up?
Yzerman had physical players around him his entire career, yet he refuses to put together a roster with any bite. This is such a soft team. Absolutely pathetic to watch the same certain teams just do what they want year after year.
I guess we just need to remember that we have the hardest remaining schedule of all the teams. I just wish there was more to this “belief” system they keep telling themselves.
This team's culture is dead and there's no saving it. We are gonna be the laughing stock of the NHL for a while. Yzerman is riding on his resume as a player, and that's it. If his name was anything else he'd be canned by now. Just get him out of here for a change of pace. But we wont because all the fans who are old enough and lucky enough to live through the dynasty dont want to see their golden boy fired. Its frustrating to see teams like the Caps or Canadians passing us in their rebuilds because they have a competent front office. All we have is a former player at the helm and a bunch of bums, bums that he rostered.
Its been 6 years, no more excuses for Yzerman. He's gotta go. Its pretty clear he aint the one who can take us over the hump. Get someone who can. But don't worry all the Yzerbot fanboys will come out in droves parroting off "The future" and our "prospect pool" lol. Dont make me laugh…
If you’re Stevie Y you watch this interview and look at Edvinsson. You pay the man keep him here for as long as you can. Never seen a red wing in recent memory look as upset and angry as he does. Dude cares just as much as us fans.
This team, if you can call it that, has no chemistry, little fight, and jack shit for goaltending. Turnover after turnover, passes to nowhere, easy offense given up several times per minute and on and on. Coaching changes don't fix ineptitude.
I guarantee when we get more of our prospects and younger and our future goalies on the team is when we will be successful and contenders this team is still building,just not our time it’s that simple
Guys. Let’s be realistic here. Not only will this years team be the worst of the next ten years, but we are making the playoffs this season. Dynasty is imminent. Anyone who knows the wings knows we will go on a 9-0 run down stretch. The only question is, will they let us down at the very last moment after getting our hopes up(last year)? Or have they learned from that and finish strong?
Imagine we had a Marchand instead of Rasmussen and a Tom Wilson on the wing instead of Tarasenko. Yzerman needs to and I know he knows this team needs some sand paper and it’s been showing for years now.
Here’s some questions you should ask yourself, ToddFather: Is it fair that the Senators have a wildcard spot and the Red Wings don’t?! How is that fair?! You should also ask yourself why won’t you start Cossa instead of Lyon or Talbot?! Why?! You need to stop protecting your young players and let them get some game time and experience! Otherwise you can kiss your chances at a playoff spot GOODBYE! IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, MAN! GOOD GOD!
This team is a joke. We've had so many chances to get back into the second wild card spot but these guys are just weak. What a pathetic team detroit has become.
When Yzerman was hired, we thought by this time we would have a team that was clutching for life to just be a wild card team. Now its considered a great achievement to claw and scrape our way to respectability. The management team needs a good shakeup.

Get rid of Chris Illitch. I’m halfway on the bandwagon of moving on from Yzerman, but not quite, as I feel Illitch is getting in the way of a lot of decision making.

Yzerman on his own is not going to cut it. I don't think he's close to incompetent, but it's not like he's some genius capable of out-managing front offices like Dallas, Tampa, Washington, or Montreal. Who of that quality is helping Yzerman acquire talent, other than drafting and waiting and waiting and waiting?
I am old enough to remember the 60's and 70's the team was run by their ex stanley cup championship players. Did not end well then. Only after the team was sold and a house cleaning was done did they start io inprove. I see history repeating itself.
I need answers from Yzerman. Not the bullshit Calm guy we normally get never giving answers. I’m tired of this and I want him to explain. “The price for this guy we wanted was to high” that’s the fucking price to win. Pay it or Get fired. We need grit. This team is way too soft.
This roster has problems but couple that with the fact that they just can't find any consistent goaltending. For this half good, half bad roster, they would need really good goaltending to get into the playoffs. Too many of Yzerman's free agent signings have been rather average to below average in their results. He's gotta get some successfull free agents until the rest of the prospects arrive.
Why only wings get interviewed coach and players. Every game? Pistons dont. Tigers? Id shut down all interviews. Until team is good. Its hard on the fans' digestive system. To have to hear how they all have to be better. Imagine. Every race horse. Having to explain why. He loses race after race. It's almost insanity. For crying out loud. Please get some better players soon.
