The trade really wasn't bad. In fact it was quite a good trade. What was bad was Hubie's contract. The Panthers never would have thrown in a 1st round pick and Weegar if Hubie was meant to play nearly as well as Tkachuk. Anyone who thought Hubie was going to be a 1:1 replacement for Tkachuk has their self to blame for being disappointed.
Well Tkachuk wasn't staying in Calgary period. He did right by them letting them know it. Huberdeau hasn't been as good as he was in Florida but he wants to be there and said as much. Weegar has been okay, Schwindt they're waiting, and a first pending. I don't think it's as bad as this video suggests. They got something for him.

Tkachuck wasn't going to sign in Calgary after Johnny walked. It was amazing the flames got as much as they did.
