Letang has been washed for YEARS, Dejan, YEARS!!! Last I remember him caring about defense was the Stanley Cup years, and even then he wasn’t particularly “good” but at least he tried. Now he doesn’t care or try and he hasn’t in 6 or 7 years now. So so sorry it’s taken everyone years to realize what was so obvious.
I know people think this team has been bad for some time….I don't think that was the case. I think they were always a move or two at the most away from another good run…This team has been an embarrassment to me once Dubas got here….his roster construction is piss poor…
Rutherford made moves until the pieces fit…that is his MO.
Hextall didn't mess with what worked but just never read the team to make the right pieces come together
Dubas decided to make bad additions and get rid of what worked……I'm not one of those guys that thinks that this team will turn it around 'with the next wave of young guys'….the chances of the Penguins winning is with Sid and then many years later …… and I've said this since he has arrived…he has, and is wasting those opportunities and years
This is what happens when u try keeping names together thinking they will always be the caliber players they used to be instead of signing young skilled players
I’d bet Dubas gives him 4 x 4m . Plays soft , bad defensively . . A Dudas type player .

DK: season has been over for a few weeks (perhaps months), no choice but to let it play out and "hope" Kyle Dubas can improve the roster in the offseason.
I always thought tanger needs to limit his on the ice ever since his heart problems.

its very simple , DK letang and karlson have "F" ups almost every game and this team is not skilled enough to make up for that ! the last 2 cup winning pens teams could , but not this pens team ! I have said for years that letang should have been moved to forward he is skilled enough to be a decent winger !
More than 60% of this roster needs to be turned over next year. Everyone in that locker room has clearly given up on each other. They need something fresh next year lots of new faces and new energy. Nothing can stay the same. These guys don't mesh with each other plain and simple if this was 2K team chemistry would be less then 10%
wait till Leturnover is playing in 2028 and is 41 on his last year of his contract. He is, hand down the most overrated player in team history.
Here's what gets me. DK says the team thinks they deserve better cause the effort, etc. is there. Simply put, that just means the team ain't very good. It's right there in front of everyone's face. If you stop the illusory thinking like" If they could just… If so and so did this…" You'd easily see it. My father used to say, " wish in one hand and poop in the other". It's '25 and this team has been middling at best since '19. Sid will and should stay. He learned team loyalty from his former landlord. The rest; one by one Dufus gotta pluck them out like weeds in a garden. Gonna take time. Let's watch what Dufus does over next 2 seasons. DK is right bout this-Leave 17 and 67 with Sid. Even in rebuild you need one scoring line. Be blessed y'all. Yahshua rules!
Hey DK, I agree, Letang was hot garbage last night. Even the plays at the offensive blue line, the shots into the pads, and of course all the things you already mentioned. This last week his game has hit an all time low, but DK, it was like Sullivan couldn't get him out there quick enough for the next shifts. Last night he didn'y lose a second of ice time, he should of been benched after the 3, 4, 5, 6th mistake…..but Sully kept pumping him out there! This has happened all year long…..and frankly for years. What value does Letang have in going forward, his offense has disappeared, his defense is attrocious. Besides moving him up to wing where is his value? This is a core leader? This guy helps mentor the kids? This guy helps the future of this team? No no no! This was Buffalo, the bottom feeders who are much better than their record, they have some legit talent on that team. Dare I say, they are a much better team than Pittsburgh but we have Sid? DK, you said something yesterday that stuck in my head as I watched the game…..and it was your comments about Poulin and your answer to him not getting a fair look because of being on the fourth line. You said maybe he didn't have the talent next to him….. but …….when you watched him you didn't see any part of his game that stood out. With that in my head I compared the Penguins with Buffalo and watched how they skated, how they compared in shooting the puck, how they hit, how they cycled and moved without the puck, the size…….up and down the line up of the Penguins, the crispness, the skill, the compete, it all lacked…….they are not good. No one stands out or shines, not in a way that helps them win, and where was Imamma, was he being punished for last game for sticking up for his team and showing heart? You shut down 87 and this team will not win, for that matter compete, what a horrible formula to win. To wrap up my rant, if Sullivan can't find it in his heart to sit a core player, if Dubas can't find it in his heart to trade a core player, than this team will never find heart at the core. Letang has become the Jeff Carter of the team on defense, a waste of money and taking up a spot. Congrats Sid, so sad to watch all your milestones happen on nights the team is so badly humbled!
Letang might have just played himself onto a new roster next year with that shitshow.
This Letang situation reminds me of the days in hockey history – speaking as someone who used to live in Canada – as a situation which would have been solved – back in the day – to make Letang a "player-coach" and put him behind the bench half the time and playing him every once-in-a-while – I know this is not going to happen – but we can fantasize – whenever he retires it will be a sad day – as we all know "Father Time" always wins
DK, can we talk about Graves for a moment? What happened? He was coming off a very good year in New Jersey. The signing was hailed pretty favorably across the board by most writers. Is he just a bad fit here or just a bad defenseman who was propped by Devils team that happened to be one of the best defensive teams in the league his last year there?
I've always supported Letang. He's my guy, always has been. But even as a fan I know that after his second stroke he should have quit the game. The game has surpassed him and he's slowing the team down. Sid dealt with losing Jake, he can deal with losing Geno and Tanger too.
Oh and Jarry's back to his usual AA level tending
I know DK covered this before but… It's painful to watch how many shots Letang just can't get thru to the net.
Murashov should and will be the #1 goalie bext year.
