Ppl too hard on Skinner. I know it sounds like a hot take , but seriously. Giving up odd mans and partial breakaways to one of the leagues most lethal rush teams and hottest since January. We are so good at generating shots, but that does not matter if the opponent gets higher quality chances while at the same time letting our goalie get cold not seeing shots and their goalie getting more confidence seeing more shots. I think Eckholm had a bad game. Kind of the reason we got lit up for 3 in the 2nd. No one talking about him though. Not trying to say he sucks, i think he belongs on our top pairing, but ppl gotta stop blaming the goalie all the time. Meanwhile, i cant imagine what it does to team morale seeing nothing go in while the opponents score on literally 1/4 to 1/2 of their chances per period. Looking at this game alone, we had mental lapses after a disappointing 1st period. We owned play by eyetest and by most metrics. We usually follow up this exact scenario in games by giving up a bunch of chances(and goals) in the next game. Only this time it was not games, but periods.Thats something we need to work on, but it sounds like a mental/emotional thing than anything else. As far as heart, this team has it in spades IMO. Yeah we didnt have an immediate reaction to Stu getting hit, we got 3 back in the back half of the 3rd. In a game where the refs clearly did not favor us and having a possible 3 injured core players on top of the big 2 already out. Also, the goals we scored were mostly playoff style goals. Yeah Dallas scored the pretty goals, but they let in the ugly ones. If we still make playoffs, this bodes well for us, maybe not so much for them. Hope Stu is OK.
Really praying for Stu's swift recovery… I'm so, so heartbroken for him 💔 I really hope Picks is ok, too, the hit on him was also nasty… This is too much. Oilers, PLEASE defend each other!!!
