Ten Most Embarrassing Sabres Moments Of The Season (So Far)
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chad DeDominicis (Expected Buffalo) for a conversation on several Buffalo Sabres topics, including their 10 most embarrassing moments (so far) in what’s become yet another laughingstock of a season.
The Sabres are going to miss the NHL playoffs for a 14th straight season, the longest drought not only in the league but of all the major four sports. Missing the playoffs yet again is one thing but Buffalo’s doing it in typical dramatic fashion—dead last in the eastern conference with a ton of embarrassing moments along the way.
Patrick goes through 10 of them and gets insight from Chad on each, including the blown four goal home lead vs Colorado, the unanswered dirty hit on their star forward in their own building, the Terry Pegula “solution is in the room” speech before his team got pummeled in Montreal and the memorable Kevyn Adams palm trees presser among others.
Patrick also has other questions to pick Chad’s brain on including if Lindy Ruff’s legacy will be tarnished should this be a one-and-done season for him, why has UPL regressed in net and what do we make of high first round pick Zach Benson’s relatively quiet second full season with the club. That plus when we can expect to see Konsta Helenius in Buffalo and much more.

It’s another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and takes primarily on the Buffalo Bills, including going over three moves he can see Brandon Beane making over the next few weeks that could be a considered a surprise to many fans.
With Buffalo making it to the AFC championship game before falling short to Kansas City for the fourth tie since 2020, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see any kind of major personnel overhaul. That doesn’t mean there isn’t changes to be made that matter. After being asked for a few potential surprise moves Patrick comes up with three, with two of them being departing ways with a pair of current starters that kind of fly under the radar, one on each side of the football.
Also, while defensive edge rusher continues to be all the rage in sports talk discussions, Patrick thinks the defensive tackle position is as big or potentially even a bigger need and based on comes up with a free agent from a AFC rival that he thinks could make a significant impact on the Buffalo defenses.
Plus, are people like Patrick starting to rate Greg Roussea too low? That plus selling high on James Cook, where Amari Cooper lands, worry about the 2024 draft class and much more.

Hi Pat. Not expecting this comment to end up in the mailbag. But I haven’t watched a Sabres game in 2 years. I hope Terry sells this team or guts everything and hires a legitimate president of hockey ops, spends to the cap, and takes a hands off approach. Has anyone watched or listened to Terry speak? I’m grateful for his ownership of our teams, but this guy doesn’t exactly inspire confidence or motivation. This ownership is an epic failure. The bills and bandits work cause he is hands off. Sure, he shows up and probably says something he thinks is constructive in his view. But could you imagine if he was meddling in those other operations from a significant position of influence? This organization is a sh*t show.
Embarassment #1 was bringing Ruff back, looks a lot like Nolan part 2. Embarassment #2 would be making Ruff the GM. Learn the the lesson of Levy being brought back as GM of the Bills fiasco
