He could have taken one hand off the stick and pushed him down with the hand instead. With his hands close together, I suppose he thinks he's more pushing with two hands with the stick incidentally being held by those hands. But it is clearly the stick that hits, and you can't use it in that way.
You missed the most obvious penalty here … those ridiculous helmets. Gordie Howe is rolling over in his grave. This isn’t the NFL. The NHL needs to stick with one color helmets and a small team logo/name sticker.
