  1. With every year now that he doesn't win the Cup that final loss against the Kings 2014 stings more and more. He really gave his all to win it but in typical fashion his teammates let him down in the end. No shame losing to the Kings at the time, and they had "Mr.Overtime" Alec Martinez. But damn, we could almost taste it. He's getting older which his lack in consistency shows and the team still struggling with finding their ways, an identity. I can't imagine how big it would be to bring the cup to New York.

But either way his merits and record speaks for themselves. I hope he retires in the Garden in the end and that the fans want it that way too. The history and bond is too strong to see him elsewhere even though it might be the only option for him to win a Stanley Cup. Even if he did win it somewhere else it would feel wrong. He's Mr. New York, if he'll manage it should be with the Rangers. And he definitely should be offered a role within the team after his playing career, like a goalie coach 🙂
