As far as Slaf making the jump from 50 to 80 points next season like Rantanen did in his age 21 season. The thing to also consider is that Mackinnon also had his breakout season in that year going from 53 to 97 points. So for Slaf to do this, he needs to play with linemates that are in that point realm. It wont happen if the top point getter on the team is not also close to 100 points. Also like Rantanen, he will be a great linemate for a top scorer, but probably not the top scorer on the team.
I feel like Matheson has gotten a lot better defensively this season. Sure he has his moments but he hasn’t been a complete liability like we’d seen last year.
As much as I have had to say about matheson he did play better last night still I really just think he is playing too many minutes
Matheson selfish flying elbow that cost our pp chance was very dumb. I find it funny that you all ignore this as he says what he says after being selfish and taking a pp away from the team with a weak ass flying elbow. If he was mad and wanted revenge he should have dropped the gloves or really hit the guy back, not a weak ass flying elbow that mostly missed.
Actually, Slafkovsky is a similar player to Rantanen. Maybe more aggressive hopefully, maybe a bit less top end, hopefully not. But he's got to keep doing it. All the time.

Im hoping Matheson does well, hometown guys i hate to see rhetm get critcized and booed… I see the questionable plays… For D corp you need an offensive vet and defensive vet to lead the boys
The top 4 def in Laval Reinbacher, Engstrom, Mailloux and Trudeau are all NHL caliber defensemen already.
For tomorrow: One of these D guys could become a forward, won’t happen, but just a thought.
