  1. Caps are proof you need to be good AND lucky to win in this league. They had none of that for a while. Hope they have some this year!

  2. This is Oshie last season on contract. He will not return. He was injury prone and I think this last injury sealed the deal. There is so much young talent on the team, Oshie is not needed as a player on the ice. This season proves it.

  3. Sad for Theodore. He got pulled in back to back playoff years in favor of Varlamov (who didnt make the list somehow).

  4. The Theodore trade came out of the blue, but despite that he still had a decent career, we got the legendary David Aebischer in return ! Absolutely zero regrets from habs fans, just lots of PTSD. The pill got a lot easier to swallow once Huet revealed himself, then Halak and Price within a few seasons.

3 great goaltenders in 1 season, but 4 within a few if we include Jose.

  5. With Kuzie's shootout approaches, the puck always went faster than him. The puck traveled twice as far as he did too, even though they went on the same trip. It was glorious.

  6. Perhaps McPhee is underrated, but I’m not sure if I can ever see him as a good GM. Martin Erat still haunts me to this day.

  7. I was born in the year 2000 and I just feel lucky to have gotten to see this team play growing up. I’m thankful my parents were both such big caps fans, in the 90s they even traveled with the team on their plane to a game in Canada and got to hangout with the players and get a ton of autographs, my moms favorite players has always been Bondra. I just really hope they don’t flop this playoffs, also an Ovie goal today against the panthers would be great, taking my girlfriend to see them today!

  8. I wouldn't blame Dale Hunter for staying with the London Knights until the day he dies. Reportedly, he's doing the work of the hockey gods there.

  9. Was a big Mojo fan when he was here. In Washington originally, it was always “Yo.” Then the year after we move him, he started telling media it was “Jo”

  10. McPhee made the worst trade in history, but most of the pieces from the 2018 team were acquired by him, particularly through the draft (Ovi,Backstrom,Carslon,Holtby,Orlov,Kuznetsov,Grubauer,Wilson,Burakovsky,Djoos). I would bet that if Forsberg was never traded, the Caps could have won more than 1 cup, especially during those president trophy years.

  11. Don't get me started on the NHL and their favoritism towards the golden boy getting all the calls to make sure Pittsburg always comes up on top in playoff series vs Caps. Hell they even allowed Flyers to win game 7 with patently obvious offside goal, so let's not judge the Caps too harshly.

  12. One of the things I've always wondered was what if the Caps had brought back Huet instead of signing Theodore? Huet was great in the short time he played for the Caps.

Hunter left the Caps because he wanted to coach his OHL team. I was surprised that Cassidy ever got a coaching job again after his time with the Caps.

  13. As a Caps fan a lot to be excited about.

Carberry is the real deal, good prospects, good team and for the first time in the Ovi era he hasn't had to carry the team.

  14. Thank you for this series I literally watch/listen and like every video you put out I love all the content you put out thank you for your hardwork even though you kept me waiting for the Tampa quarter century video lol jk thanks for the content

  15. That glorious 5-man PP unit in 17-18 will always be one of, if not the best 5-man gang for the team, a 29% conversion rate in the playoff!

  16. Thank you so much for this series of videos THG! I truly enjoyed them all. Nice to hear names of players I had completely forgotten about!

  17. This is more of a local bonus for me but the Caps were also the most successful DC major sports team and were the ones to bring a championship parade to Washington in a generation. The 2018-2019 period for DC sports feels unreal to a lot of folks in the area and the Caps were the one to usher it in.

  18. I want to see Ovi break the goals record and then get one more Cup before he hangs them up for good after the ‘26 season

  19. I'm still holding out hope that Ovie and Crosby will have a joint press conference to announce their retirements. This comes from a Caps fan that used to absolutely loathe Crosby. I still think his face is eminently punchable, but I don't hate him anymore. XD

  20. It's all about Ovechkin now and remember when Peter Bondra was tearing it up for the Caps in the days before what this video is about? He was scoring bunches during an especially difficult time to score: clutch-grab and goalies dressed like tents.
