Leon Draisaitl is looking to hit the 50/50 club tonight! The Oilers have won each of the two previous meetings with Utah this season, rallying from two goals down to win 4-3 in overtime on Nov. 29 thanks to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ winner during their inaugural visit to Salt Lake City before winning 4-1 on New Year’s Eve in Edmonton after receiving multi-point nights from Mattias Ekholm (1G, 1A), Connor Brown (2A) and McDavid (2A) and 26 saves from Stuart Skinner.

  1. I was at the game here in SLC, it was my first NHL game ever as well, so much fun to see Drai, McD and Nuge all score in the same game!

  2. Some random names: the Utah Power, the Utah Poobahs, the Utah Tempo, the Utah Rifles, the Utah Americans, the Utah Salty Dogs

  3. Players to watch: Drai, Ekholm, J Skinner
Ekholm should definitely be THE player to watch after his long break, he should be pretty solid. I think Jeff Skinner will be also be noticeable to this game, hopefully he gets a goal or two.
Oilers 4-2 in regulation. The Oilers seem to be playing a much more "defense focused" game rather than a "full offense" game so I think it will be a close game considering the Utah HC has been playing very good lately. Hopefully Captain Picks can give us another solid start 🙏

  4. This is a much more balanced line-up than I've seen in a long while – which is exciting.

I think RNH and Henrique are exactly where they need to be. I also like Arvidsson's style next to Nuge, and i love Skinner replacing Nuge on the top line – especially after the inner fire he had last game.

It'll be interesting what happens to Drai's line once Kane comes back and Frederic joins. All-in-all some big lineup decisions are still inbound.

And again, looking at that D-core. If we get them all on top of their game, I think it's as great of depth and skill as we could possibly hope for given what we can afford. I really like them… Which i haven't been able to say about the Oilers D prettymuch ever, lol.

  5. I like RNH centering the third. Reason being, he’s experienced and can take on the responsibility against some of the middling teams. I also like the Jeff Skinner McD pairing, definitely my pair to watch.

  6. First game back from a road trip is almost always a loss . Game means more to Utah so I'll say they take it 4-2

  7. Can we please send our small sub par defensemen array and bring up a couple bigger guys from Bakersfield!?!

  8. The theme of this post is: Lines.
IF the “top” LINE catches some chemistry, that’s a LINE I could get behind. Second LINE, Brown needs to impress in order to stay there longer than the first 3 shifts.
I am really curious about Frederic. I think he will be the catalyst in finally settling the top 6.
    The other LINES are interchangeable.
Bottom LINE, I have no friggin clue what to expect, because the LINEup changes from game to game. 😂
