Ovechkin has entered the final countdown

Alex Ovechkin is officially just 10 goals from breaking the all time NHL goals record to surpass Wayne Gretzky. I cannot believe what we are witnessing this season from the Russian Machine as he has been on an absolute mission this season. He broke his leg in November yet is somehow defying the odds and is scoring at the 3rd highest goals per game average of his entire career at .7 goals per game. After scoring his 32nd goal as the Washington Capitals faced off at MSG against the New York Rangers, he is on record to break the record on April 6th. He is now also just 1 point shy of 1,600 points. Every game Ovechkin plays is now must watch hockey! This one was a good game, as it felt very much like a playoff game. 3 lead changes, 2 fights, big hits, plenty of chippy hockey and an Overtime period to settle it! I cover it all and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. Ovi is so entertaining to see scoring goals! One of the best of all time and all true hockey fans wish him well to make the record and score many more goals beyond as the new record holder. Please be easy on my Maple Leafs though Alex!, I'll allow you one goal a game only.

  2. Random comment but I just love seeing what gear pros are actually wearing underneath. You'll be surprised as to how many of these guys are taping their gear together using the same chest pad since they joined the league lol. They can easily just ask for a new one and they are over here like NAH THIS IS MY GOOD LUCK PAD

  3. Going to miss the Ovi Crosby era after they retire. Hard to find loyalty like those guys these days. Most stars bounce once their team starts going downhill or not making the playoffs

  4. I didn't think he'd make it but there's a real team buy in and everyone wants it for him so he will. Impressive.

  5. I guess we won’t talk about the fact that his entire career has been with the two line pass allowed and the blue line moved back. Yes, the goalie equipment got bigger so he has that one on his side.

  6. Great for Ovecchkin! Too bad he could not do it in the same timeline as Gretzky, with as many hat tricks, awards. Stanley Cups, etc… will always be second or third fiddle to Gretzky, Lemeiux, etc…! And lots of Russian "athletes" use illegal drugs, banned substances and steroids to be machines!!!! Check your history!

  7. Hopefully it will be a great postseason run for Caps and the big man will score many goals there. Next season is his last contract year and it’s still a possibility to overpass the real all time record – 1016 tallies by the Great One in both regular and playoff and 958 for the great eight . 58 goals to go and great opportunity to do it in the next season

  8. Always nice to see someone achieve something like this record. That said, I doubt anyone will every overtake the Great One on total points. Ovi is still 1200 shy of that amazing mark.

  9. I have tickets to see the Caps in MN vs my Wild on the 27th

I wouldn't be too disappointed if he broke the record against us lol… GO OVI 💯

  10. I've been watching the NHL for 71 years, since I was 9 years old. Ovechkin is one of the all-time greats, right up there with Gordie Howe, Rocket Richard et al. He plays the game with passion and joy – like a little kid. Crash! Bang! Boom! End to end. Never seen him give less than 100%. Just the way it's meant to be played. Won't mention names, but some of our pampered, self-entitled, multi-millionaire superstars could take a lesson.
