Though they have struggled in March, the future is still pretty bright for the Blue Jackets.

I think they will spend this year. CBJ and Wild could be the big spenders this year.
Tankathon is getting a shout out!!!! let's go.
I really see this season as a complete success for Blue Jackets. The team, instead of falling apart after what happened to Johnny hockey, the group rallied together and produced one of the best seasons of franchise in the past half a decade
Ive always scoffed at people with more than one team, this channel has shifted my opinion. Now I only actively support one team, I watch more random games the last couple seasons. I definitely have games I'm unbiased, rooting for good hockey, nothing else. Other games I am surprised who I pull for. There's 30 teams behind Columbus in my book. It would be a great story if they can get in the playoffs.
You have no power here Gandalf The Grey!
Lifelong CBJ fan. Name another franchise where the only joy the fanbase gets is hoping their team loses so they can get the highest pick in the draft.
if the jackets make the post season or miss by a few point it is still a win for the team cause nobody expected it. in the offseason #1 they need someone in net. Elvis just ain't cutting it, he has good game here and there but just lets in too many that should be saved. need at least a .920 to have a chance at making a good run. Marchenko hasn't been right since he came back with the bubble on, wonder if the bubble is messing with his visuals.
Assuming Winipeg doesn't resign Nikolaj Ehlers, I really hope CBJ goes after him. They certainly have the cap space. IMO, I think they probably need at least 1 top 6 or 1st line winger and maybe a defensive defensemen, if they can somehow get rid of severson or don't resign provorov. Idk about goaltending because Tarasov is probably gone, Elvis contract is unmoveable, and Greaves will be here next year, plus I dont think there are many goalie options out there rn.
Gonna be interesting with teams like cbj who can spend like minney both are similar to what they can do on the open market but also what creativity they can do with trades as well. Excited to see what both teams do.
Honestly happy with how this season has gone. Wasn't expecting much but injuries held them back. But also feel like they are a piece or two from being a strong-ish team. But I think this offseason will be interesting.
It's been a good year for CBJ. They gave everything they had after a off season full of tragedy. They stayed in the hunt for much longer then anyone could have expected. Unfortunately it seems like they've run out of gas.
Not sure the Jackets want to pay Provorov, but he could net the Jackets an extra pick for a team willing to give 8 years. Fabbro could actually stay since he's played well. Tarasov, Kuraly, Kunin, and JVR all pending UFAs with Jet Greaves the favorite to tandem in net. As for cap space, extending Fantilli, Marchenko, and K. Johnson is not going to be cheap. If they do trade Elvis, I think Edmonton and Vancouver would have interest.
While the team has certainly run out of steam, and better franchises have the make-up and intangibles to push for the wildcard slot in the east, this season is far from a failure for the Blue Jackets. If they develop a quality playmaking winger who can set up their snipers, they'll be good on the offensive diversity, because opponents have pegged Evason relying on redirects. I'm still not really a fan of Provorov and Severson. Their defensive shortcomings will always outweigh their point production, and I still think dealing away Jiricek was a mistake (yes, he's currently not cracking anything in Minnesota either). But all in all, they have a solid potential upswing for the immediate future.
I think regardless of outcome. This has been a very good season for Columbus
Don wadell should give the team a chance to get into the playoffs, this team deserves it.
This team has changed the perception.
Special teams total below 80% 😵💫 Thats a bit of a problem
I hope the blue jackets the best. As a avs and Utah fan I can root for anyone that’s not rangers lol
Luca Del Bel Belluz just might be the best hockey name I've ever heard. As a Finn I finally get it how people from US or Canada feel when they hear names like Jyrki Jokipakka or Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
I knew they wouldn’t make it this year. Management wasn’t serious. Should have tried to get Saad couple months ago. You need an experienced guy to get you to the playoffs. And the trade deadline came and went with getting someone that can’t bring much to the table. Need a steady goaltender. Elvis is inconsistent. And need defense to clear out those rebounds.
RIP Johnny
Almost every person has Columbus last in the East at the start of the season that them being in the playoff race come the trade deadline is an amazing accomplishment in itself.
Hopefully they can keep taking steps forward next year, but the East is extremely tight it might be hard to break through.
Hey, it's better than the last couple of years, where draft lottery was the thought by the end of October
Things have to get better eventually after 25 years right?
Can you make a video on why goalies are so bad now?
As a wings fan goaltending has been a weak spot since Bernier left, but it is shocking that the wings technically have league average goaltending based on save percentage.
The league has been more offensive post pandemic but it seems to have leveled off the past two seasons, but save percentage keeps going down somehow.
At the beginning of the season, this year will be a mulligan and see what we have. Kinda surprised that they out performed up to the Stadium game. After that, they need to do good in the two game series with the Rangers and the Devils to stay in the playoffs and basically went free fall. The only chance left is the series with the Senators just to help make up some ground, but it is at the point of most likely miss the cutoff. Over the summer, I can see Waddell try to take a big swing at Free Agency in addition to tinker the roster for a better shot next year.
In an alternate timeline we would be talking about a first place columbus blue jackets team, or at best 2nd in the metro.
Thanks for the optimistic analysis Shannon. Objectively it’s been a great season but the way they collapsed has been painful. Most of us cbj fans are just sad right now that it fell apart so abruptly. It’s nice to be reminded that the future is still bright for us
I wonder if the success of the stadium series and the tragic loss of Johnny will have a positive effect on attracting players to columbus.
As a Columbus fan I think this season has been a success. Last year there was little hope even before the tragic passing of Johnny Guadreau. Now they look like a team on the rise with a good young core with a ton of cap space and two first round picks. I’m not too worried about Marchenko. I feel like he’ll be back to form next season after breaking his jaw.
Thank you Shannon. My thoughts. 1) The future is bright and we don't have to make the playoffs this year. Huge step forward. I do want them to finish strong though. No tank. 2) Goaltending is the biggest issue and I admit to dreaming about a John Gibson trade all year long. We can't win a cup with what we have now unless Greaves grows up fast. 3) Damon Severson has actually been the third pairing D-man, while Mateychuk has been playing along with Provorov as the second pairing. They might move Severson IF someone wanted his contract, but it would be hard. If Provorov doesn't resign (and I hope he does) then Ekblad would be a great replacement. 4) Keep KJ. Chinakov has had a hard time staying healthy so I wonder about him and his future here. Also don't forget about Gudbranson who played only 3 games.
to me it's been a successful season. young guys injuries, it matters. we have hope for the future
