Really hoping they make it but in reality I don't think the Habs can keep up the pace for the next dozen or so games. the next four will tell the tale. Fingers crossed.
If the Canadiens play just .500 hockey the rest of the way and go 7-7 in their last 14 that puts them at 88pts, That means the Rangers have to go 8-4 in their last 12 to tie Montreal but they have more regulation wins so Rangers would get in but can the Rangers go 8-4 when they have been pretty much a .500 team the last few months and the Rangers only have 5 home games left and of their 12 games 9 are against teams above them in the standings. The Islanders currently have 1 regulation win more then Montreal so 7-7 for them would get them in but of their last 14 games 10 of them are against teams above them in the standings. If Montreal can just go 8-6 or 7-5-2 or 7-6-1, The Rangers would have to win 9 out of 12 games and Islanders would have to go 9-5 to get in.
What habs talk often ignores is….the rest of the league lol.ALL the other teams are making moves drafting players and MIGHT be vying for free agents and trades etc etc everything MTL is doing is happening throughout the league. WHY does it matter well if MTL does not make BETTER moves better contracts better trades BETTER picks it is all pointless.Habsnation appear to ACT like every move we make is a positive move ignoring the rest of the league. I pointed out a year ago that is Hage ends up a third line player he would be a NON impact player. Now with Demidov I am sure we are all on the same page he WILL be top line player and if he ends up as a second line player it will be a travesty and prove how crap MSL is. I stated two years ago that if Suzuki Cole and Slaf were our top line this team would NEVER win a cup.So we NEED to see a BETTER team at least one better player on the top line.
BZZZ WRONG MSL has displayed the EXACT opposite and if you can't see it welI can't help you and I am not going to write 5 paragraphs explaining the MANY scenarios that have happened to prove MSL is a BAD ..plug coach. As for MTL proving they are a good team it is not as easy a statement and yes I will explain why.The league on a whole has a lot more parity and if you have noticed MANY teams have been winning games in spite of being outplayed and sometimes outshot by DOUBLE.I don't need to point to specifics MOST should remember that MTL just won a game recently with only 15 shots. Without writing a book ALL goalies are sub par if you shoot properly THINK about how to score you will beat these goalies you don't need many shots. In that same game 2 shots off the bar if they go in it changes the entire game so yeah there has been a LOT of luck and MTL has been at the top end of luck this year. IMO MTL has PLAYED like a team that should have 8 pts less they have not PLAYED like a playoff team but this team has been incredibly opportunistic.
Love the standing room only story, my brother did his masters at mcgill, i was in kingston at Queen’s, would go up for the weekend, catch the game that way, remember how people would run to get those prime locations .

Goaltending will determine their participation in the playoffs

I hope they get in but if they do I want Calgary to tank so we get their pick at #11-13 so we can get Carter Bear.
Ivan will be ovie 2.0 or pretty close, habs fans will never be the same.
